Question about Elton Brand

Post#1 » by Dedicated_76ers_fan » Tue Jul 8, 2008 10:48 pm

Even though Elton Brand had a terrific comeback and dominated the NBA after injury. The fact still remains, that he's what, 28/29? And coming off of an ACL injury. My Sixers are trying to get into the Elton Brand sweep-stakes. I personally dislike the move, given we're a team that runs in transition and he simply won't be able to do that. But, the move could work if he's a guy that can set plays out of the double-team.

So, the million dollar(in this case, 15-16 million dollar) question is: Can Elton Brand pass out of the double-team. Or is his effectiveness purely being a scorer?

Reporting or guessing? There's a big difference.

^ I just heard he may be signing with the 76ers as early as Wednesday. Hopefully this is false info.

Answer the question, please. No means to be rude, but I posted to get a perspective on Brand's passing game. Not whether or not he signs with us.

Brand can pass out of the double team at times or turn it over. It's 50/50.

Don't expect any Vlade Divac passes for easy buckets out of the post though. His passes are generally going to out to the backcourt and then re-post. Andre Miller is the worst PG to pair Brand with, IMHO. We've seen it before and it doesn't work because Miller can't shoot.

You shouldn't ask this, Clipper fans are pretty angry and depressed right now. I wanted the Clippers to be good next season.

My take is pretty accurate. Brand is not the best passer in the world. He's average. He can kick it out if doubled but he doesn't create for others the way you think he would out of a double. He's best if paired with good shooters in the back court.
