I dunno: Diop with the MLE, Gerald Green, Re-sign your 3rd string PG for 3 years, sign James Singleton to a guaranteed contract. I wonder if on the Clipper board they are saying the same thing about us?
At least they have cap room! We don't.
well NJ did not want to sign and trade. we need Diop, what else you wanna do? Plus he's cheap for a 26 year old center that you hope will take over as the starter and who may keep improving and will now have a coach who holds nothing against him.
Gerald Green is a good signing. The guy has the talent but he needs to find it. Maybe Carlisle and Kidd help him. He is motivated and has something to prove to the league. I hungry, young, athletic player with untapped potential for a one year contract at a the vet's minimum? what the hell is so bad about that signing? He has been working with John Lucas during the offseason to turn things around. He's been humbled and now knows he has to work for it.
Barea...eh not thrilling and I'm not all on his jock like some people may be, but at least its like $5 mill total.
Singleton? At least he played well in Europe and has a little NBA experience. he could be the next Bass. Maybe the Mavs have already seen enough of him in this short time to offer him a contract.
I know we want the sexy signings and trades, but those just won't be coming and are available only to a precious few teams. We just need quality, young, hungry role players..kinda like what the Lakers have. Our core, IMO, is still formidable if JHo returns to form, which i'm counting on him to do. Dirk will be Dirk, and probably better than ever with a full year of a running Kidd. We know what we *should* get from Terry. If Kidd is healthy, i think we'll get a 9-8-9 type of year. Throw in a bench with guys who actually still have the physical abilities to contribute and I think we'll have a team playing for 1st round homecourt advantage.
