potentially portland. the raptors have something to say if o'neal is healthy. not a fan of their sf spot though.

I'd take Torontos over ours.

Phoenix isn't there but they deserve half a mention. Shaq is getting old and, unfortunately, its hard to count on Hill's health.

Is Thad Young really that good? I mean granted I've only seen the guy play 10 or so times (incl. college), he is definitely a great athlete with perfect size for the 3, but what's his ceiling? How important is he to your franchise and what role do you see him playing? I had this discussion with a member a few days ago and we got talking about who was more important to the future of the 76ers, Young or Iggy and he was quick to reply Young. I definitely like the Dalembert/Brand/Young frontcourt, but best in the league? Let's wait and see how effective they are.

Also is Young going to see 30 minutes+ this season? What do you guys see him putting up this year and a rough estimate at his career averages? Any answers would be much appreciated.

Health being an issue but here are a handful of frontcourts that I think might be better:

O'Neal-Bosh
Bynum-Gasol
Oden-Aldridge
O'Neal-Stoudemire
Chandler-West

Oh yeah, I forgot about the 3. Yeah, I'd take the Lakers, then ours.

Depnding on matchup, one could argue Orlando

Howard - Lewis

Personally, I don't think we make the top 5 (assuming everyone is healthy). If we are mainly talking about PF/C, the Lakers, Toronto, Utah, Phoenix and Orlando are all better IMO

I may also take Portland and New Orleans, but they may be a push. Boston prob ahead too since I think they have better bench guys. Rockets aren't bad w/ Yao, Scola and Landry.

Oh, and what about the Knicks...wait, nevermind.

In addition to GP's list Houston is definitely better. Boston with Perkins,KG & PP. You can give Tim Duncan 2 scrubs and still have a terrific front court.

He's got the potential to be a top 5 SF in the league...

Has incredible quickness, a very explosive first step, plays beyond his years...He already has an unblockable spin move thats going to be his bread and butter for years to come. He's a tenacious rebounder with a nose for the ball, if he develops in that area, he could have numbers comparable to Shawn Marion. Young already plays average to slightly above average defense, and has the foot speed, and massive wingspan to be an elite defender. Scoring comes naturally to him, and without having any plays called, he was able to average 8.2 points in 21 minutes on 53.9% shooting. His BBIQ is off the charts...

Most pundits believe he has the potential to average 22+ppg/8+rpg/3-4 assists, on a 50% shooting...

Young should be penciled in as a starter this year, and from what I'm hearing would average anywhere between 27-32 mins per game...I wouldn't be surprised if he average 15-16 ppg next year to go along with 6 rpg on 50%+ shooting...

raptors have the best front court in the league... O'neal and Bosh will be unstoppable. And there is moon or kapono at the 3. Philys frontcourt is no where near T-DOT's.

Ignore the Homer post above. If you count the 3 then Philly's Iggy/Brand/Daly is better than Kapono/Bosh/JO.

Oh how I love delusional fans of other teams. As for the main question no.. The Lakers and Portland are two I would take over ours. As for the rest while I like West and Chandler I don't really see them being better than ours. Phoenix if Shaq was 5-8 yrs young sure but not now. Orlando and Toronto are a step under these the top two teams slightly better than the two others I listed. I place our team just under the top two close to the Chandler West combo which I like better than Bosh and the walking injury O'neal.

Bosh is definitely good, but considering O'Neal will only play 55 games (if you're lucky), I fail to see how him and Bosh are better than Dalembert/Brand who will probably play between 78-82 games. Not to mention that in those 55 games O'Neal plays he's going to be playing injured and probably only averaging about 12/7.

Now if we were talking about O'Neal 3, 4, 5 years ago, we could have a nice discussion. But not anymore.

Bigmen or frontcourt?

bigmen PHIL has contention.

If it's frontcourt BOS competes with Pierce,Garnett,Perkins

I love reading posts like this. O'Neal will play 55 games if we're lucky, yet Brand who played 8 games last year will play 78-82? O'Neal has claimed numerous times that he did not play last year because he wanted to rest his knee and knew he couldn't help his team with him on the floor. He now says that he is healthy and confident that he will play a lot of games this year.

As far as best frontcourt in the league, if you include the 3 spot we are pretty equal. This season moon and Young should be pretty equal but Young has a lot more potential. I would say that Bosh and Brand are pretty equal as well with the slight edge to Bosh. JO and Dalembert no question JO is more talented. If JO stays healthy Toronto has a stronger frontcourt going into this season.
