Camby to the Clippers

Post#1 » by rafy » Wed Jul 16, 2008 3:00 am

Camby was traded to the Clippers for a 2nd rd pick.

I think they are having a firesale, what about Hedo for Kenyon Martin?

If Crittendon (sp?) gets his butt here, we'll have another creator because in that department we would suck without Hedo, but if we get another creator, having a quality PF while we are contending in the east would be a big leap. Yes, Kmart's deal sucks, but whatever... we have $$$$$hard.

So if we trade Turkoglu while his value is in an all time high, we could finally balance our roster.

Nelson
Pietrus
$$$$$$
Martin
Howard

altough I'd like to have a better PG, because that way Boston would be swetting in the ECF with us.

Thats what happens when you overpay players.

Were not trading Hedo for Kmart.

Kenyon Martin is nothing like what he used to be. No way.

But wait... Camby for just a 2nd rounder???

How come Otis couldn't do JJ+Cook+Battie+2nd rounder for him?

Way to go Otis!

I don't think like "WE NEED KMART!!!11!!", but I do think we should round our damn roster because it's a good roster for the season, but it's not a championship roster (hello $hard!!).

Kmart was SOLID last year, for example, he guarded Kobe Bryant, with good success in some games of the PO's, and in the season he did a FABULOUS job on Timmy D.

We are talking about a great defender, nice finisher, good help defender and even has a nice jumpshot. Overpaid? yes... we know about that.

The same as in 2002? never, but he isn't a crap player, he is a warrior.

I don't get it. I can see the CLippers going for this steal, but whats going on in Denver? Are they rebuilding already? Why would give up a quality center like Camby for a 2nd round pick? I know the cap rules are complicated, but somethings seriously wrong when the league allows such lop-sided trades.

The Clippers are under the cap and Denver is WAYYYY over the cap, so this moves saves them more than 20 million.

I have to admit, though, if we were far enough under the cap to trade for Camby for just a 2nd and/or JJ, I'd do it. He'd be great here, bringing much needed size, rebounds, and defense.

Nelson/Johnson/Critt?
MP/Lee
Lewis/Hedo
Camby/Cook
Howard/Battie

That's an awesome starting lineup, with a great sixth man in Hedo.

Yea I know that, but it defeats the purpose of having to trade for matching salaries. At least this time it's the Clippers. Usually such lop-sided trades happen to teams that Stern favors, (Lakers-Celtics)

This deal (LA-DEN) seems like a plausable deal for both sides. Denver wasnt going anywhere with or without Camby, they plain SUCK, therefore they get lux tax relief right now rather than paying it for two years and getting nothign out of it (saves about 20mil). Only problem for LAC might be if he can gaurd the 4 or not..

Agreed, no way Kmartin for Hedo - salaries don't match it would have to be Hedo & Battie...also, we won 52 games with RL & Hedo as our forwards. We have Battie back to help take some of the load and now can be flexibility when match ups dictate Tony playing more. Rashard is our starting 4 - deal with it people. Otis/SVG are going to ride that lineup with the other additons/roster tweaks into the season...I'm okay this it! If perfomance is much less than expectations after a couple of months, then a deadline trade could happen...

That's right, this team could win a bunch of games, but Howard is a championship center and it wouldn't be fair to waste it with Nelson and Shard as the main gamers. This team is good, but it needs some stuff as you say, and that very well could happen by the deadline, but this is real gm... we can play to be ones.

I do not expect a WOW trade. GM Smith and StM are going to roll the dice one more year on the Turkoglu/Lewis tandem.

Salary dump for the Nug's - Clippers had the room for it.

Not the sort of deal many teams can do at all.

Clippers:
Davis
Mobely
Thornton
Camby
Kaman

The Clippers were smart to do this since this means they don't have to throw all their cap room at a RFA and then wait a week before the other team matches. This way they get to add Camby, who will cover up for Kaman's defense, while still having 3 million to fill out their roster.

Nuggets
Iverson
Smith
Kleiza
Anthony
Nene

The Nuggets realize that the team wasn't going anywhere as built, so they are obviously deciding to build around the 4 youngsters for the future. They were paying 4 players $10 million+, and they wanted to be able to re-sign JR Smith. Trading the 35 year old Camby saves them 20 million this year, and then next summer they have 10 million to throw at someone when the FA class will be much better. With or without Camby, this team is a first round knockout at best. Look for them to try to move Martin.
