Todd Jones

Post#1 » by ajaX82 » Fri Jul 18, 2008 2:12 am

Something needs to be done about the human horror film. He is a guaranteed bases loaded, give up a run and, amazingly, still grab the save. His K/BB ratio is laughable. His ERA is touching 5. THIS IS A CLOSER ON A CONTENDER!

For f***'s sake, release, trade, demote him. Do something. I dont care. But i just cant see us winning a pennant or making the playoffs or anything with him closing. Its just tooo risky.

I've been wondering ALL SEASON why the **** this guy is still our closer. No lead feels safe with him on the mound, he's the worst closer I've ever seen last this long in the job. When its tied and we are at home I almost find myself HOPING we don't score in the bottom of the eighth because I'd rather give a walkoff a chance than have to watch Todd Jones try and save a narrow lead.

Its out of control, and I can't for life of me figure out why the guy still has a job in this league.

Unfortunately, he's one of a couple of things we have now that I can't see us reaching or succeeding in the playoffs with. Infield defense comes to mind, too.

The only way we demote him is if we find some one to replace Zumaya long term, then we could move him to closer.

Weird thought though, there are rumors that Leyland might like to START Joel. So for now we're stuck with the crap he takes with him to the mound, he shouldn't even be in the league, he may be the worst closer in the league. One thing about him, he does find a way to get it done though.

Everyone in the mid-west is wondering why Jones is still our closer. But is a significant upgrade really attainable right now? That's not rhetorical...

Is our starting pitching reliable enough and our bull pin strong enough to afford saving Zumaya for the 9th inning?

Our bullpen has been amazing all year long, as I suspected either Zumaya or Rodney would be come our closer and Rodney has been named our closer.

Buh bye, Jonesey...

I'm glad Leyland won't ever be tempted to use him again. He was horrendous this year.

Thats an understatement. An ERA near 5 for a closer? (or was he actually over 5?)

Thanks for his years of service but i will not miss him and his "load em up, sit em down with a couple earned" style.
