The face of the Bears can smile now, because Chicago is about to make Brian Urlacher one happy middle linebacker.
According to sources, Urlacher and the Bears have come to terms on a revised contract, which includes a one-year extension, thus ending their offseason contract squabble.
Urlacher, 30, had four years and approximately $25.5 million remaining on his contract. Under the terms of the upgraded deal, Urlacher will receive a $6 million signing bonus along with a $1 million bump in salary each of the next four years. The sides also have agreed to extend the pact into 2012, at a salary of $7.5 million. Urlacher can earn an additional $500,000 in a workout bonus in 2012.
That's a total of roughly $43.5 million over the next five years, with $18 million in new money for the six-time Pro Bowler and four-time All Pro.

It appears the Bears won't have to worry about Brian Urlacher showing up for training camp after all.
The linebacker has agreed in principle to the contract extension offered by the team, a source close to Urlacher said Monday. The Bears offered Urlacher a one-year extension through 2012 that included $5 million up front and an extra $1 million per season as long as he participated in 85 percent of the snaps. Urlacher signed a nine-year, $57 million contract in 2003.
With camp starting Wednesday and players due to report Tuesday, some wondered if Urlacher would continue his protest. That doesn't appear to be the case. He is expected to sign the completed contract Tuesday.

Well, one more offseason issue is put to rest.

NOW SIGN DEVIN HESTER YOU SLACKERS!
Erhm. I like the deal. Besides the whole 6 million upfront, it doesn't really do anything considering how he had a VERY fair deal(7.5 mil next year? Yeah okay) already. I'm just glad it's over.

Now maybe he'll stop acting like such a bitch to the media. JA should put the press to sign Hester now before his breakout season this year. It'll cost us more later. And as ChronicKerr asked? How much is left over for signing the rest of our guys?
