Rod Smith retires

Post#1 » by Icness » Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:18 pm

Best undrafted player ever!
From 1997-2006:
Only Marvin Harrison had more receptions
Only Harrison and Jimmy Smith had more yards
Only TO, Randy Moss, Harrison, and Joey Galloway (tied) had more TD receptions
And for over half his career his QB was either Brian Griese or Jake Plummer, not exactly greatness, in a run-oriented offense.

I love how Smith thanked the fans of all the AFC West teams, including Seattle from back when they were still in there. There's a guy who has a great appreciation that he got to make a great living playing a game he loves.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Sad news for the NFL. One of the most underrated and classiest players I knew of.

HOF? The debates have already started on sports radio stations! I hope he makes it.

I think he should make the HOF. He was the teams best player post-Elway, and he has those rings from the time Elway was there.

I find it very disrespectful this isn't even front page news on ESPN.com.

Am I the only one who thought he was already retired?

he pretty much did, he just waited a year to officially announce it (i think he tried one last ditch comeback effort at the beginning of last year)

i enjoyed the duo of rod smith and ed mccaffrey, those were some tough receivers.
