some of "insiders" on the boards here are saying detroit and sacramento
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Odd that Rasheed and Artest might be on the block.

If Sund/ASG is truly dumb enough to not pay Smith, I'm done keeping up with the Hawks for a while. I'll just be a casual fan who watches games sometimes, nothing serious. To lose BOTH Joshes in a summer where they considered signing them as the TOP priorities is nothing but absolute incompetence. We won't see the playoffs for at least 5 years if he leaves, because JJ will ask out and/or walk in two years.

I hope its Detroit and Sacramento.

Kings:
trade-Ron Artest, Mikki Moore, 1st round pick
recieve-Josh Smith

Detroit:
trade-Tayshaun Prince, Antonio McDyess
recieve-Ron Artest, Kenny Thomas, 1st round pick

Atlanta:
trade-Josh Smith
recieve-Tayshaun Prince, Antonio McDyess

When you look at East contenders, BOS isn't going to break up their big 3, ORL already has Turkoglu and Lewis, and Cleveland doesn't have many desirable assets (AV, West and filler?), so DET makes sense.

I've heard it's Prince/Maxiell or Amir with picks possibly involved for Smith/Claxton.

Billups/Stuckey/Claxton
Rip/Afflalo
FA (Bonzi?)/Sharpe
Smith/Maxiell or Amir
Wallace/McDyess/Samb

Bibby/Law
Johnson/Evans
Prince/Williams
Williams/Maxiell or Amir
Horford/Zaza

In the West, I could see DEN, LAL and SA interested (all could be viewed as contenders as they all won 50 games - though Denver really isn't).

DEN, like Cleveland, doesn't really have the pieces unless ATL wants AI. The same can be said of SA.

So I think the other deal would be the Lakers, involving Odom for Smith/Claxton.

Fisher/Farmar/Claxton
Kobe/Sasha
Smith/Walton
Gasol/Vlad
Bynum/Mbenga

Bibby/Law
JJ/Evans
Williams/?
Odom/?
Horford/Zaza

I guess the hawks really don't want to pay him.

Pistons in the East, definitely... and the Lakers or Dallas in the West? Odom or Howard on the move?

As if Odom would be at SF, Smith doesn't help the Lakers floor spacing at all, though. As the only outside shooter in the starting line-up is Fisher, and Kobe is more of a self-creation shooter than a recieving shooter. Also, I don't know if Smith can defend SFs on a consistent basis? I don't have enough material or have heard much about that, how is Smith defensively there, Hawks fans?

I don't like that for DET. They lose Prince AND take on Thomas' contract? Prince is more valuable than Artest, but an unprotected 1st from the Kings could end up being pretty good.

Sac would quickly be cut out of this deal, if the Hawks would accept Prince and Dyess for J Smoove, we would take him, not Artest and KENNY FREAKIN THOMAS.

Well, the article says Its a "power team" from each conference. Imma going to assume thats a contending team and knocks the kings out of the picture. Unless, I miss interpreted its meaning.

All these trades are just awful, which is why the ASG would be absolute idiots to S&T Smith. Just resign him, I'm sick of hearing about this.

It might be shocking but I think ATL might be dealing with Lakers and Detroit.

They might be getting something like

Farmar, Odom, vlade, walton or

Jsmith and speedy for lamar odom and mihm/ariza if ATL gm wants to save money and get rid of speedy.

Honestly, ATL's not going to do any better than a Prince, Max/Amir, 09 1st or Odom, Ariza package in a Smith S&T.

Smith certainly has more value, but the team sending out a player in a S&T never really gets full value.

I don't understand why ATL ownership is being so stingy, but if they won't pay him, they're better off getting something for him instead of having him play for the QO and bolt for nothing.

The logical teams are the Lakers and Pistons. When did Sacramento became an NBA power?

Josh makes no sense for the Lakers. We need our 3 to be a very good shooter. Odom is a better shooter than Josh so it makes no sense for us.

I don't blame Gms for being cheap tho. You really need superstars to sell tickets and actually have a shot at the championship.

The one I heard about from a reliable source is Smith to DET for Prince, Maxiell and a 1st.

Dunno about the one from the west though

Its either this will ATL take old people and perhaps Maxille from detroit or take scrubs with underachiever and perhaps Farmar from LA to get rid of Speedy claxton's contract.
