Who do you want, and be real.

Post#1 » by Gorilla Warfare » Sat Aug 2, 2008 1:22 am

plenty of free agents on the table, so i was just curious who you all want, and what would you pay him? Be real with your picks and make sure the money works out. (No Lebron and Iversons)

1. Player Name
2. Salary
3. Why you want him here and why he fits in our system

Now
1. JWilliams
2. $1.5M/YR, player option for second year.
3. He can back Nash up, pushes the ball, can stretch the defense with his range.

2009
1. Matt Barnes, Grant Hill, DJ Strawberry
2. ?
3. I hope Hill plays longer if he has a good season, and that we are able to keep Barnes and DJ. Alando will either get traded or waived if he doesn't progress this season.

2009
1. Not any money to spend, but if we do use the MLE; Varejao, Gooden, Hedo, Artest.
2. MLE is the most we could offer.
3. All four of these guys give us an added toughness that I think we still need to improve on; Artest and Hedo help with our spacing offensively, because of their ability to step out behind the arc.

If we don't bring back our own three free agents at the 2/3 we are going to need to address that position first.

2010
1. Joe Johnson
2. 6YR/$90M
3. I think we all remember how he fit in here, I just hope he has realized his error and is willing to come back. He would no longer be the fourth wheel either.

1.Steve Nash
2. 3YR/$21M
3. Once again I think we all know how good he is here; let's just hope he can maintain this level for more years than anyone expected.

1.Stephen Jackson/Al Harrington
2. MLE type money
3. They have proven to be able to get up and down the court and to stretch the defense with their shot. They are both tough players as well.

1. And I would like to bring Raja back.
2. LLE
3. He should have enough left in his tank to give us a few minutes off the bench.

1. Josh Powell and Jameson Curry (both waived)

2. Both are like the vets minimum

3. Powell would be to replace Skinner, he can mostly play pf and maybe even some center. Curry is unproven but he might develop into a solid player playing the point behind Nash.

1. James Singleton (or Pops-Mensah-Bonsu)

2. Minimum

3. Replaces the tough defender on the interior that we need as our 4th or 5th big.

1. Joe Smith / Delonte West

2. As a deal is apparently "being discussed" about West, I think he could be had for Diaw + 2009 second for West + Joe Smith.

3. Because we get a proven, vet backup for STAT. We also get a solid combo guard who can come off the bench and wreak HAVOC playing alongside Barbosa. He can guard both guard positions on defense, which is a plus because we can play him alongside Nash.

I really like this deal for both teams, especially if we can get Delonte signed for a 2-3 deal starting at $2,325,000 (minimum for a deal to work under the CBA) with max increments (I think 10% if Cleveland resigns him). 3 years, $7.7m might be something West may consider in Phoenix considering there isn't much money on the open market and Cleveland reportedly doesn't want to commit what they've already signed Gibson for.

Nash/ West/ Dragic*
Bell/ Barbosa/ Strawberry
Barnes/ Hill/ Tucker
Stoudemire/ Smith
O'Neal/ Lopez/ ?????

Cleveland has a nice frontcourt mix with a lot of options.

Gibson/ Snow/ Jones
Pavlovic/ Szczerbiak
James/ Szczerbiak
Diaw/ Hickson/ Varajeo
Wallace/ Ilgauskas/ Jones

James can play SG-SF-PF, Diaw SF-PF-C, Wallace PF-C with each bringing different attributes, ie Scoring, playmaking, defence etc. The question is, would they really want to up their salary by another $2M? They might prefer to just let West walk, and Smith/ Szczerbiak/ Jones expire at the end of the season.

1.) j-will

2.) something betwenn the vet minimum and 2 mil a year

3.) because he can back up one of the greatest, knows how to play alongside shaq and
got something left in the tank

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) josh powell

2.) vet minimum

3.) alot better than anything sean "mip" marks can give us. still young, can be a solid shaq / amare
back up

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

dealing:

1.) diaw for milicic and crittenton

2.) salaries match / we need to throw in a first rounder ( if we have some )

3.) milicic is an expiring, i think he´ll play like a maniac with the last year of his contract
and i´m not high bout crittenton, we just need him to make the salaries work...

Props to the great one

1. Jason Williams
2. Vet Min
3. For the vet min, why not. He's still an above average playmaker and should bond well with our guys since he's good friends with the big cactus. He hit the occasional triple through his career, but was never a solid shooter. If Grant Hill can make the occasional triple with us, i'm sure J-Will's 3pt% would hit the 40+% mark. Still a defensive liability, but hey we've been covering Nash's a$$ for a while now, i'm sure we can do the same for J-Will.

I like the D.West/Joe Smith for Diaw + 2nd rounder. I think West can thrive in our system. Was a fan of Diaw but after the last 2 seasons, he's stock just seem to be going further and further down, even after his decent performance in the last playoffs.

Matt Watson: I was just reading that you signed with a team in Spain. What's going on with that?

Pops: I signed with a team in Spain a few days ago but they gave me an NBA out until July 22nd, so that's why I'm playing with the Timberwolves. If I get signed or picked up by an NBA team, they won't have to buy me out over there. I have until the 22nd to get signed. Hopefully that works out. If not, I have no problem going back to Spain.

MW: Have you heard anything about your future here?

Pops: It's kind of early, it's only my second game in Summer League. I got two more games to try and see what I can do to get back into the NBA, but like I said, if not, I'll go back to Spain and play another year there.

We should of had this guy last yr....but alas , we were surprised by Marks.

I got a sneaky thought that we have a deal in place, but it hinges upon whether Dragic comes here or not. Unfortunatley, I think the Brazilian Blurb is on the blubble. To where I guess not, but if the beancounters can shave a couple mill on a Barbo deal AND be able to sign this Euro wonder...Apparently he will cost more next yr with a higher buy out. He gets stuck there this yr, its going to be a 500K+ omelet on Kerrveball's chin. Milos Vujanic anyone??

As far as who I want, without seeing an updated list.... I'll take Joe Smith for the block Peter.
(of course it has to be for the min)

Shaun Livingston?

Post#15 » by statisback » Fri Aug 8, 2008 1:15 am

Honestly, lets just sign him. There is no way he is going to be a Clipper next season. I could see Livingston being a comeback player this season.

I'm still on the Livingston bandwagon although we need someone who can play right now as well. We could just use Diaw/Hill as backup playmakers with a little sprinkle of DJ until he is ready to go I guess.

LOL. This is like the 10th post we're discussing about either Livingston / Dragic. Let's just keep it in one?

As others have said I'm getting REALLY tired of having to merge topics.

Please use either the offseason thread or one of the 2-3 on the next page which deal with this matter
