Olympic '08 Wade reminds me so much of Olympic '92 Jordan

Post#1 » by Typhoon20 » Sun Aug 10, 2008 4:40 pm

I don't know if it's the bald head, goatee, his physical outlook or his playing style, but all in all he reminds me so much of Jordan in his early years.

Is it just me ?

I'm not one of these people who have allegiance to Jordan and think that he always will be the greatest ever so I'm not gonna say you're crazy. Before D-Wade went through injury troubles in recent seasons he was arguably the closest thing to Jordan in terms of game + intangibles + swagger. I mean, he led the Heat to a championship with the good version of Shaq on his team so he is a premier guy, no doubt, hands down. The only thing is Jordan was a lot older in the '92 olympics than D-Wade is in these ones.

D-Wade reminded me of Jordan (offensively) when he was winning the 06 title.

Agreed. When healthy Wade reminds me of prime MJ more than anyone because of how explosive he is. He gets to the basket at will very similair to MJ from 1987-1992

Jordan was 29 years old during the 92' Olympics, Wade is 26 years old right now

wouldn't exactly say that's a huge difference in age, Wade's older than people think

The comparisons are all there. Wade and young Jordan had very similar games. Besides Jordan having the ability to jump out the building, they are pretty much identical in most aspects.

Wasn't it Barkley who lead the Dream Team in scoring. I don't really remember MJ dominating in the Olympics....

That's MJ in his prime and D-Wade about 1 or 2 years away from his.

Maybe in terms of build and the way he moves on the court. But by '92 MJ's game had changed. Current Wade attacks the basket a lot more than 29 year old MJ.

Similar style of play to a younger Jordan, but Wade is obviously not as good as Jordan was. As a Heat fan though, I love the fact that he can be discussed about in such a manner...

it's so refreshing to see Wade being discussed with some of the GOATs again, after the 2 past seasons he's been through.

can't wait for the new season to begin!

Wade will step it up this season. Riles will definitely need to step it up though if you get what I'm saying.

I know that's a little off topic but I don't won't to see him waste all the work he's done this off-season for another lackluster year.

Wade never struck me as the next Jordan his game is just too different and he tends to fall down a lot. I know that's part of his ploy to sell shoes but idk I just don't see the Jordan comparison...

I am not one to put Wade in the same sentence as Jordan, I don't think he's anywhere near the level of Jordan and probably will never be, but the similarities in their games is undeniable! What is different about their games? Both were decent shooters at the beginning of their careers and attacked the basket relentlessly. As their careers went on, they refined their game to shooting more often (which will obviously occur this year, there is a visual improvement in Wade's shooting so far, and he also cannot afford another injury) rather than attacking. Wade also has plenty of time to improve his defense. IMO, the only major differences between Wade and Jordan are 2 inches, 5 rings, and defense ( in other words: there's a long way to go, but the similarities are there).

And the second part of your statement is just ignorant.

can you ever be serious in your posts, or do you ALWAYS have to bring comedic relief when it isn't even necessary in the 1st place?

When Wade brings his consistent jumper (that he has had recently) to his NBA game, then we will put them in the same sentence.
