Jason Smith from the 76ers has a torn ACL and is most likely going to miss the whole season. Now I was just thinking, the Suns have one of the best medical staffs in the entire league, they helped rejuvanate Hill, Nash, Amare and Shaq plus the Suns could use a big once Shaq retires in 2010. He would basically be a project that can be a high risk-high reward type of player, he's also young like 22 so he would have a easier time comming back into shape.
What do you guys think about the Suns trading something like a second rounder for him? Or maybe even Alando Tucker, I'm sure the 76ers would bite. It seems Tucker has no place on his squad and he's unproven but could turn out to be a solid player in the league, the thing is with the Barnes signing he's going to get less playing time most likely.
So what do you guys think about the Suns looking into trading for Jason Smith?

Not a bad idea to try and get a steal out of this, but I wouldn't trade for him, for 2 reasons.
1) call me crazy, but if I were PHI I would waive the guy. He's not good enough to have rotting the pine for a year AND risking him ever fully coming back to his full potential with such a horrible injury.
2) WE don't need someone rotting the pine...season after next, I would hope we will have at least as good of an option as even a healthy Jason Smith (though this is likely an overestimation of our mgmt)

Even if he does sit on the bench for a season though he would still be working with the medical staff like Amare was during the 05-06 season.

I would do a trade for Tucker, though I don't see why the Sixers would want him. Smith, when healthy could be apart of our future front court, after we start rebuilding around Amare.
Although, no matter how much Tucker has progressed or not in the off season, he would still have more value than Smith this season, since Smith will be out of the whole season anyway. I'd rather have someone we can use this crucial season, rather than in the next few.

I like Jason Smiths potential, but he is a year away and that does not help us this year at all.
