Wolves lineup / minute distribution in 2 years (w/ Pekovic)

Post#1 » by Mcfale313 » Sat Aug 16, 2008 12:25 am

Since someone mentioned Pekovic, i wanna try decipher what McFale and the rest of wolves FO members tried to do and whats probably their visions for the team in 2 years:

I think the long term plan in 2 years for the wolves is :

for center and power forward position, they will have a Jefferson-Love-Pekovic-Smith platoon, with the minute distribution of
Jefferson (34)- Love (23)- Pekovic (23)- Smith (14)- Collins+MadDog+Cardinal+Booth (2), the minutes of love and pekovic will fluctuate and depend on who performs better by then

on the wing position (3 and 2), there will be the platoon of Miller, Gomes, McCants, Brewer and Carney

Miller(30)- Gomes-(20)- McCants (20)- Brewer (18)- Carney (8) , again the number will fluctuate depend on whether McCants is a bust and whether brewer can hit jumpers regularly

the point guard position basically will be Foye (30) Telfair/Rubio(18)

asume no significant free agent signnings of course (like bronbron signed with the wolves in 2010...)

agree?

sorry i know i'm not that good of a basketball analysts like u guys, but i love the wolves! =)

You can get rid of Collins and Booth, they are both expiring this year.

As for the rest of the big man rotation, I think you are vastly overrating Pekovic. I don't think he'll get that many minutes right off the bat. He'll have to earn his time.

Lastly, the whole Kevin McFale bit is getting a little old. Give him a little credit. I know thats your username, but still.

I don't see Collins, MadDog, Cardinal, and Booth here in 2 years. I'm also going to go out on a limb and say McCants and Carney won't either. That leaves a rotation (barring a FA signing) of

Jefferson (35) / Love (35) / Pekovic (26) - assuming he comes over which is not guaranteed
Miller (32) / Brewer (32) / Gomes (32)
Foye (35) / Telfair (13)

That's what I'd do anyway. Of course a FA signing changes everything.

ok ya u guys have a point.....
some of the guys will not be resigned by then, i missed that part, my bad

McHale sucks tho, he sucks b4, now and forever.....

I do see Smith getting resigned tho.... he can play a solid 15 min, i cant remeber how many time last season hes there for 15 min and get like 12 pt or something for like 5/8 FG....

With Pekovic (hopefully) coming over and both Love and Jefferson locked into contracts beyond 2010, I dont see how Craigers gets resigned, that is one too many offensive oriented post players IMO.

As for McHale, I still think he takes a lot of hate for things that were out of his hand (Marbury going loco, Cassell and Spree simultaneously going loco, Brandon getting injured, etc) Of course he isnt the perfect GM, he has his share of mistakes, but I still think he gets alot of undeserved hate. As soon as Cassell and Spree bolted he tried to make lemonade out of lemons but it just wasnt happening, so the FO blew it up and have actually done a pretty damn good job of bringing in talent and putting them in a position to succeed.

There'll be some shake up of the core, we've been pretty trade happy over the years and with so many players bolting to europe i don't think much will change.
I'd like to see the fo take some risks and persist with the players we've got for more than half a season though. If we're on a lengthy losing streak mid-season mchale will probably panic and trade away our future. I guess only time will tell.

I agree.

Plus it is a little early to be looking at who gets what minutes two years from now.
