Post#1 » by ib4 » Tue Aug 26, 2008 8:07 pm

Hassell wearing 44

now Hayes wearing 22

http://www.nba.com/nets/roster/

all his numbers getting taken up. poor keith...(actually that was ironic.)

i wonder what he's doing....like, really doing. everyone keeps saying "he's getting paid to sit on his ass" well, are there reports of him actually getting up off his couch? please correct me if there have been.

but seriously, has anybody heard about what the heck he's up to nowadays?

All I know is he was practicing with the team last year then went back home when the season ended. He doesn't have to report until camp officially opens in September so I'm assuming he's sitting at home and waiting to get a phone call from Rod Thorn saying one of the following:

1. "Hey we're sending you a check for $250,000.00 to buy out your contract. That's for the memories Keith"

2. "Hey we traded you to XXXXX. It's sad to see you go again but thanks for helping us out when you really didn't have to. We appreciate it. XXXXX will probably mail you a check to buy out your contract by the end of the week"

haha totally he got paid a mil or two to be a practice squad player basically. Most guys would be dumb not to do that.

I read that the NBA is kinda pushing for the Nets to buy out KVH as opposed to using him in a trade. I know Thorn or Kiki (can't remember which one) said that talks will pick up again now that the labor day weekend and olympics are over. I'm hoping we have something done at some point this month. Nets brass did tell the big spender season ticket holders, even though they'll only be "tweaking" the roster, that they are hoping to cut the roster down to 13 by opening night. I can see if all else fails they just buy out Stro and Ager. Buying them out still keeps us under the lux tax. It's not my favorite option, but I'd be ok if the Nets didn't have any other choice.

Regardless, we'll see what happens to them plus KVH's contract. Maybe we'll do something crazy like go after LaFrentz's contract in a 3 team deal to unload a bunch of guys (stro/kvh/ager/hassell) to free up roster spots, give us cash to get a solid starter (not talking marquee...but solid starter) in the offseason and still keep enough for a max deal in 2010. Pipe dream, but it's late so it's ok to dream right now lol.
