Dee Brown Watch Thread
Saw him at the Illini Legends game. He was shooting the three well and seems to be in great shape. Hopefully, he will get a chance to make an impact for us this year.

I hope Brown doesn't have an impact for us this year. We're playing for more than lottery balls, after all.

What a hater. He can be solid coming off the bench and putting in productive 15 mpg.

He's not being a hater, he's stating the obvious. With Arenas & Daniels ahead of him on the depth chart he won't see anything but garbage time. If for some reason he's getting 15 minutes per, it means we've got injury problems.
Truth be told, Dee Brown is your run-of-the-mill NBDL quality guard. Good enough to have a cup of coffee in the NBA but probably not good enough to stay on a roster. I'm surprised Grunfeld would even give the guy a roster spot considering all the FAs out there who are just as good if not better.

Non-guaranteed roster spot. The question is really whether Dee Brown is better than say Mike Wilks. Or good enough that we'd pay to put our marker on him. We'd been killed by small quick PGs-- Gil can't keep in front of them, Daniels is slowing down-- so we picked up one of our own for those few games a year when we need him. Dee Brown actually played pretty well in spot minutes in Utah towards the end of the year, as a change-of-pace speed guard he's decent but it's not wrecking the team to keep him through training camp or whatnot while we see what Gilbert looks like, for instance.

Good video feature on Dee Brown at the Wiz official site.
I forgot the majority of my Dee Brown cheerleading is in the Coaching breakdown thread. But I like the kid. He's scrappy.

He can make it. He won't ever start but he can really be a spar plug.

He was mediocre in Turkey but now he doesn't have to score and lead the team so I think he can be productive.

I too hope that Dee will be a good spar plug in practice after/when Gil comes back.

Who would have to go for DerMarr Johnson to make the squad? Haven't we been looking for a decent backup three?
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

Re: Dee Brown Watch Thread
More from Dee's blog.
Everyday I woke up at 7 am and began my day with a good foam roll stretch. We had team breakfast meetings at 8 am and then I was off to the gym with Gilbert, Caron Butler, DeShawn Stevenson to put up shots before practice. I went to the gym early everyday and made sure I made 300 shots before practice started. The coaching staff was pleased to see I worked on my shot on the off-season. I have to say I worked hard on making my shot more consistent. After playing overseas it taught me to be more of a complete point guard. But I still have a long way to go but it feels good to know that people notice the improvement. My first couple games last season teams were going under ball screens, backing up when I was penetrating so I just got that confidence to pull up and knockdown shots. Also working with different people on my fundamentals and techique really helped too. I know I have to knockdown shots when I'm out there on the court with Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison because they draw so much attention. I also think I impressed my teammates and coaches with my speed and ability to get the ball up and down the court. Thats my game though, and I love getting out in transition getting easy baskets. My speed came natural and I tell people all the time I haven't even reached my full potential. I need to stretch more, I'm so tight and feel like if I work on my flexibility I will jump higher and move faster. Everyday I just focused on working as hard I could, doing everything right, and learning as much as I could.

I'm honestly jealous you guys get to watch Dee play. He's a great guy to have on the team, he works hard, and gets the rest of the players pumped up.
I think you'll really be surprised by him.

The verdict is in - Dee Brown is trash. When Juan Dixon looks like more of a PG than you do, it's time to go back to Europe.
