What to do with Vince?
Hey everyone, I don't post very much but I do visit the site often and am a huge fan. My concern is with Vince. I love having him on the team but when 2010 rolls around he is going to have a huge contract. I hate to say it but it looks like he is on the decline. Now if we do trade him mid season or at the end of this year I know we are not going to get equal value for him. I've been searching for a contending team that is in need of Vince's service while trying to get back at least one young player with some potential or maybe a middle of the pack 1st rounder. As of right now the only two teams I see that may want him with something decent to offer are Cavs/Bulls. Cavs wanted to give us Wally straight up but I would want more like a pick/young player and they really don't have one I want. The Bulls are interesting, I would be interested in Ben Gordon he is still young and is a solid player. We would have to do a S&T and will have to give him a little more than he's worth, but Vince was going to be the cap in 2010 anyway and at that point in time I think I would rather have Gordon. Let me know what u think about that and let me know any other trade suggestions u have. But please keep them reasonable because I hate dumb one-sided trades. Remeber the team needs to be playoff caliber and they are not going to give equal value. Looking forward to this season even though we are going to have one of the worst records in the league. I just hope the young guys get big minutes and we play hard. Those are my goals for the season DeMarr Rosen here we come. Go Nets!

Without Vince this is a 10 win team, and it's always harder to turn around a 10 win team with a losing culture than it is a 20 win team that just loses.
Unless someone throws the Nets a killer deal for Vince, the Nets should probably keep him for the next season or two.
While clearing cap space might be nice, it's probably better that the Nets don't put all their eggs in one basket, even if they really are hoping to sign Lebron or some other big name free agent in 2010 they can't just forget about developing the young players on the roster THE RIGHT WAY*.
*And by that I mean the not-Atlanta-Hawks-way.

Re: What to do with Vince?
Come trading deadline, I can see a few teams inquiring about VC especially if he is have a good season. Depending on the standings, I can see teams wanting to add some much needed offense.
One team I was thinkng of was Utah. If they see that they are on edge of not making the playoffs. I can see them thinkng of bring in VC to help the offense. Boozer is the inside offense. Williams runs the team, but they dont have any other outside threats. Okur disappears in big games. AK-47 is all over the place. Okur, Collins, young guy, and pick(s) for VC.
Then the Suns will get desperate but I dont think that have much that would work for us.
Another team is of course the Clippers. I doubt they make the playoffs but management has to do something to help Davis to justify that contract.
The Bulls part you mentioned only works if he doesnt get what he wants and the asking price goes down.
Those are a few IMO. You never know if VC has a good year there may be more after him. VC isnt going to help these guys develop PT will. We can only win 10 with VC on this team. What then?

Its likely he gets traded by midseason or sometime next year. It really depends on how the team is doing. I don't think they will keep him if the team is doing badly.

I think the Nets will play him out and let him walk away...
I think some team like Marvs or Rockets will definitely want to sign him for cheap..
And VC only goes to contenders

Keep him for what.
Lets say Lebron signs an extension today to stay with Cavs. Still keep VC? No thanks.
To me he goes to the highest bidder and we try to get the highest pick possible in the 09, 10 and 11 draft. Draft a top 5 SG.
Did you see VC? VC leaves!!
