the pen will be A ok for next year with all internal options

I agree I think our pen will be a major strength next year. Bruney has earned a spot for next year..

Projected Bullpen
Mariano Rivera
Damaso Marte (2 yrs/9 mill)
Brian Bruney
Jose Veras
Phil Coke
David Robertson or Edwar (I'd go with DROB. edwar is too inconsistent)
Humberto Sanchez

call up Melancon in May for the weakest link

pen will be great if healthy. we just need to revamp the offense and solidify the starting staff..

Bullpens are so hit and miss. The only guy I am counting on next year is the only guy we've been able to count on for a decade and a half, Mo Rivera.

On the whole, yes. That doesn't mean it's a waste to have solid bullpen prospects, though. Even though KRod is a safe bet to be this offseason's Free Agent Contract of Death, the Angels made out pretty nicely with a duo of him and Shields the past few years. A bullpen built around a few guys who consistently perform goes a long way,
