Cle/Mem/Por

Post#1 » by eyejayem » Wed Sep 24, 2008 4:02 pm

After many realgm trades over the last couple of months I think a trade of this depth could benefit all parties depending on what they are looking for. So witht that said:

Cleveland

Wally or Ben
Eric Snow
2009 Cleveland 1st rd pick(late 1st)
Cash

for

Matrell Webster
Darko Milicic
Antoine Walker

Memphis

Darko Milicic
Antoine Walker
2010 Lakers 1st rd pick(late 1st)

for

Wally or Ben Wallace
Channing Frye or Ike Diogu
2009 New York 2nd rd pick(early 2nd)

Portland

Matrell Webster
Channing Frye/Ike Diogu
2009 New York 2nd rd pick(early 2nd)

for

Eric Snow
Cash
2009 Cleveland 1st rd pick(late 1st)
2010 Lakers 1st rd pcik(late 1st)

Cleveland
Cavs get their SG/SF Webster(21) who does not need the ball in his hands to be effective with Mo and Bron handling the rock. Shot 38% from 3 and we can imagine the open looks he will get. His defense has improved greatly. Big wing like Brown likes(6'8" 215-225). If Pavs starts can back him up or Lebron. Cavs get their future big in Darko(23 yrs old/7' 250lbs.) and can start his learning under Z and already has great D(avg 1.6 blks in ~25 min). We also have to take Antoine Walker and yes his contract does run into 2011 but next year is a team option so he is as good as an expiring. If Memphis takes Wally(immediate cap relief) we are set in the back court and wings, if they take Ben(because they are thin upfront) we have great chances of keeping AV which I would love to do. We give up our 1st but still have chi 2nd which should only be a couple picks back. If we have to put in more I am willing.

Memphis
Griz give up Walker and Darko for immediate cap relief for Wally and I would believe Frye(more versatile than Diogu), if they want to improve frontcourt depth they take Ben who can be paired with Gasol and be the vet and doesnt need the ball for a shot happy team. Ben would be good for when they go small and benefit until their Iranian is ready to contribute. I would believe they would want Diogu instead because he is more offensive oriented then Frye to balance Ben's slack. Now they are in the youth movement so I think they would drop a couple spots and pick this year in the early 2nd rather wait another year and pick next year in the late 1st.

Portland
Portland already has to decide if they are going to keep Webster or Outlaw. Outlaw said he wants to start and that is slated for Webster right now. Outlaw was also rumored to be on his way to Memphis for Conley but Griz want more. They have Nicholas Batum overseas waiting to come over and Guards Rudy Fernandez,Sergio Rodriguez, and Jerryd Bayliss joining their backcourt which means Roy will probably play more SF. They also recieved Ike Diogu who will fight for min and diminish Frye's min with the addition of Oden coming in. So they take Snow(if he is eligable) and cash to cut the cost of Miles contract which will likely be added once he plays 10 games for Boston. Snow can be a coach for these new young PGs and is liked by Nate. So they turn their excess players and one of their (3) 2009 2nd rd picks into cap relief and this year 1st and next year 1st.

I don't see why the Blazers do this deal, but I'd love it for the Cavs.

Darius Miles contract will go back on the books (9 mil which turns into 18 mil being over the cap) once he plays 10 games for Boston. And with all the extra pieces the got in the draft and through trades some people's value is going to go down with limited playing time so why not trade pieces in which the value is going to go down, not certain if you are going to keep, or whatever reason for 2 first round picks and cap relief. Yes They dont want youth anymore but they now have multiple 1sts(in addition to their multiple 2nds)in consecutive years to get players they have been targeting (rumors of Tayshaun Prince and Kirk Hinrich).

Grizzlies do not have a need for cap relief. We will be as much as $24M-$25M under the cap next offseason.

I would pass on this deal unless you swap the 1st rounder with the 2nd rounder and include Big Ben instead of Wally.
