There are a lot of other ak trades that I would do before this.

Midseason maybe, as I have always hated every trade that brought Wally to utah (people have been trying to pawn him off on us for years) but as an expiring now, I may be ready to cave.

He really adds absolutely nothing to the Jazz that they don't have in Korver or Miles.

I was expecting to have to lock this thread, but the trade isn't as "oh no you DIDN'T" as the usual, so we'll let it ride.

Sasha's got a reasonable contract and I like his game (though his Basketball IQ isn't on par with his skills), but there's no reason to be messing around with him when we've already got Brewer, Korver, and CJ.

And as great as Wally World's expiring looks, I'd probably have to exit life if I saw him in a Jazz uniform.

Not bad for straight value, if we're ready to just straight up dump Andrei. But considering that the trade asset we're getting back is worthless to us (Sasha doesn't have a shot at getting PT for us), this would only work in a 3 team deal where Sasha went somewhere else and we got a more usable asset in return. Preferably, at least for me, I would like either a 1) solid veteran PG that isn't on his last legs, 2) a solid defensive bigman or 3) a combo forward that has an inside/out game to replace what Harpring gives us.

That said, this trade would kill for Cleveland. I was just thinking the other day that making them into a running team with LBJ, Mo, Sasha, AK, and a running Big (Gooden would have worked, :( ) would be the best way to improve that team. They would be awesome.

Sasho could work at SF consideing we would be trading AK and who knows how Harpring is going to be playing.

Though I would assume in this scenario if Wally could still move he would get back up time behind Brewer and Korver who would be starting in the 2/3 spots.

This could be a mid-season trade, it really depends on our record though. Come February, If it looks like we have a legit shot at a title, I doubt Jazz brass would make and big move like this. However, if we're just ok and AK hasn't been doing much, I could see us moving him before the trade deadline.

I dont post that often (maybe cause i write long posts) but do enjoy reading the message board regularly.

Obviously the Jazz have a major headache in relation to the upcoming offseason and unfortunately there doesnt appear to be an easy solution. Two conflicting thoughts keep running through my head:

1. In professional sports franchises should only be trying to achieve one of two things. Trying to win a championship or rebuilding to put themselves in the best position to win a championship in the future.

2. An NBA team that doesnt want to pay the luxury tax cant afford to have AK on a max contract. (Dont get me wrong I 100% agreed that signing Andrei to the max contract at the time was the right decision)

Undoubtly we have a strong team. Is it capable of winning a championship this year though? If not, then we should trade AK before the deadline (the sooner the better though) and move on trying to put overselves in the best position to win a championship in the future.

I think Boozer is more important than AK in the likelyhood of the Jazz winning a ring in the future.
Boozer was poor in the playoffs last year but I still have faith, unless he tanks again in the playoffs this year.

Then again we would look silly if we trade AK and either:
A. Boozer opts out and leaves in the off season OR
B. Boozer tanks again this year in the playoffs.

Personally I would like to trade AK to free up money to afford to resign the rest of the team in the offseason (Boozer, Okur, Korver, Millsap) without going over the luxury threshold. To do that we need atleast some expirings. Szecerbiak does that but duplicates Korver however isnt as good or young so we get no future value.

I know I should post in Trade Board but would like your Jazz posters thoughts.

Both teams have picks to trade, if required:
Cav have no 1st owed or owing
Utah 1st in 09' (Protected) goes to Philly but NY 1st in 09' (Protected) comes to us.

UTAH JAZZ Incoming Players
Anderson Varejao
6-10 PF / C from Brazil (Foreign)
6.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.1 apg in 27.5 minutes
Eric Snow
6-3 PG from Michigan State
1.0 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 13.9 minutes
Future Cav's Ist Rd in either 2011/12/13 (Protected top 10)
Note: Not that Cleveland will not need to worry too much about this unless LeBron leaves via free agency.

UTAH JAZZ Outgoing Players
Andrei Kirilenko
6-9 SF from Russia (Foreign)
11.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 4.0 apg in 30.8 minutes
Morris Almond
6-6 SG from Rice
1.4 ppg, 0.2 rpg, 0.3 apg in 4.4 minutes

Snow is an expiring (covered by insurance?). We also get an asset with the future 1st rd pick. Varejeo would have to agree to the trade and he also has a player option for next year. Nothing is ever easy is it?

We do already have a hustle player off the bench in Harpring but unfortunately he is coming to the end of his career (though cant come soon enough for some) where as Vajerao is only 26. Sloan would love him as would his teammates.

Is this fair value for both teams? Would anyone pull the trigger?

I say wait until the trade deadline! if we are the best team in the west wait until the end of the season to bust a move! this team can win now i know it! Boozer and Ak need to step up! We have a really deep team here i want one more shot with these guys!
But hey im not the owner and don't know all the details about the money and stuff, i just like what i see!
