Gonzalez Rejected Deals To Atlanta And Buffalo

Wisconsin State Journal - According to two NFL sources familiar with the negotiations, the Packers had drawn up the trade paperwork and sent it to the Chiefs to finalize the deal, a third-round pick for Tony Gonzalez, only to have the Chiefs call them 10 minutes before the deadline to say it would take a second-round pick to get the deal done.

The Chiefs ended up keeping Gonzalez, who is now angry a deal didn't get done.

The Packers "sent the papers and everything, thinking it was going to happen," the source said.

According to the source, the Packers, New York Giants, and Philadelphia Eagles all made offers — the Giants offering a fourth-round pick; the Eagles and Packers offering third-rounders. The source said the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills made better offers, but Gonzalez wasn't interested in playing for either team.

Understandable.

We're 4-2, sure, but I believe he wants to go to an established vet contender.

glad it didn't happen. fans would have expected instant success from Tony, Matt, and the rest of the offence, when it would really take a good 6-7 games for Tony to get into rythem and i just would rather not waste the draft pick.

Look At This Clown!

Tony Gonzalez Still Wants To Be Traded

Barring a serious change in direction, tight end Tony Gonzalez still wants out of Kansas City.

Gonzalez believes that he'll get news on the team's coaching search by Thursday, but he doubts that team is going to have a chance to win a Super Bowl soon.

"You never know, and that's the thing about the NFL right now," Gonzalez said.

"You can go from being really bad one year and all of a sudden be really good the next year. So you have to factor that in. We have a young football team that could be really good out there in Kansas City. Now, the question is, are they going to make it to a Super Bowl? Like with Jason [Taylor], even if he'd have stayed in Miami, yeah, you could be good. But I don't care about being good. I want to be great. I want to win a Super Bowl."
