Steve Kerr doesn't have much confidence in the Suns...

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Sun Oct 26, 2008 5:03 am

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but the NBA took a survey from the general managers of all NBA teams, when the question came to who will take the pacific division it said

Which team will win the Pacific Division?
1. L.A. Lakers -- 100%

So it appears Steve Kerr included voted that the Lakers will take the pacific along with every single GM in the league, kind of dissapointed about it because that shows that our own GM couldn't even give one vote to the Suns. If Kerr doesn't think the Suns can take the division how can he think the Suns can get far in the playoffs or win the championship?

Anyway here's the link of the 08-09 GM survey...

NBA.com posed these questions and more to the league's general managers, and nearly all of the GM's responded to our survey.*

* - Percentages are based on the pool of respondents to each question of the survey, rather than all 30 general managers.

I would hope Kerr isn't THAT stupid

Also, maybe there are certain rules, like teams within a certain division/conference aren't allowed to vote on that division/conference.

Otherwise there may be a chance that each team would win the Championship. I also think that a team would not be able to vote for themselves.

surely us suns fans know that winning the division isnt as important as being in good form come playoff time and kerr more than anyone knows that were trying to get to the playoffs healthy, not in first place

Even as a Suns fan, I don't think I would vote in the Suns to win the Pacific Division. I don't think the execs were allowed to choose their own team, otherwise it wouldn't be much of a survey.

But then again I don't really care if we win the division or not, as long as we're in the playoffs healthy we can beat any team.

If you do the odds, you can figure out that only 27 GMs votes and 3 GMs didn't. There's a chance Kerr is in those 3, but it's not very likely.

If Execs weren't allowed to choose their own team, as lilfish says, that would mean that Kupchak didn't vote. But I think that GMs were allowed to vote for their own team and own players. Being an anonymous survey, they probably are more apt to state their true feelings.

i remembered when the sportscasters were asked to vote on who would win ROY (during Brandon Roy's year) that Chuck Swirsky, the guy from Toronto, gave the only vote for Andrea Bargnani instead of Roy, and he got flamed on realgm for months.

Maybe Steve Kerr learned a lesson from that incident? =p

Steve Kerr was just being honest. After all, it is the Lakers which holds the western conference title? It's called an honest evaluation. If any, it's a challenge to his team?

What would Kerr look like if he said that the Suns will win it? False confidence? Prove it first and people will give you credit. Suns have done none yet.
