foye being cautious
regardless of numbers or tasks, foye seems to be playing very very cautious. he is considered an attack guard. someone that pushes pressure on the team by getiing in the paint and creating. right now he seems to be holding back. more concerned with filling a roll than performing wth his gifts.

Re: foye being cautious
Wittman is ruining Foye. He is turning Foye into something he doesn't want to be, but that's just my opinion, I don't know that for sure.

Re: foye being cautious
Yea I agree. I think he is trying to be a team player and listen to the coaches. They seem to want him to be a pass first initiator and then take his shots when the opportunity arises but I don't think he has that level of understanding to do that right now. He seems like there is a noose around his neck and his feet are shackled.

Disagree.
Unfortunately we can’t blame Wittman on this one.
Offensively, Foye has had plenty of opportunities to make wide-open shots in the first two games (26 shot attempts thus far). Foye has just been unable to knock them down (shooting in the 30% range). I don’t think Wittman is asking Foye to be Jason Kidd (an amazing distributor) but if he shoots 30%, he kills this team.
It’s a long season … but Foye is off to an auspicious start on both ends of the court.

To his credit, it looked like he drove left twice last night - maybe the first two times ever as a Timberwolf? Unfortunately it is the same straight line lay-up off the glass that he always takes to the right. Are you guys sure he was an offensive force in college?

Re: foye being cautious
Randy Foye got sat down for the second consecutive game. Wednesday, he watched while Kevin Ollie played most of the fourth quarter. Last night, Wittman sat him down quickly after he took a rushed three-pointer in the third quarter. He put him back in the game in the fourth quarter, but at one point you could hear Wittman say to him about something, “I’m not going to tell you again.”
Afterward, Wittman said Foye “has to get better” but said point-guard play wasn’t the reason lost a game Wittman said he felt they could have won. Still, it sure can’t hurt when Sebastian Telfair comes back from his three-game suspension Wednesday against San Antonio.

Re: foye being cautious
Wittman has done his job as a filler. We need a good offensive coach for this team to succeed. 99.98% of our "offense" consists of setting up Jefferson in the post, and when Jefferson isnt in the game the offense is give the ball to Rashad. We have too much offensive talent for that to fly on this team

I'd give 10 games before making any of these sorts of judgements

Re: foye being cautious
I am not trying to make judgment just thinking foye is not playing with he edge he had last year. gomes is the same way. they are so concerned with being complements that they are lacking aggression.
it is only 2 games but it was my quick thought. foye has been a good passer thus far.

Re: foye being cautious
Foye is doing a good job in the passing role. And I did notice Gomes not being as active as well.
I have a problem with Wittman pulling Foye for making mistakes. If you are a team contending for a playoff spot, i have no qualms with pulling a guy for making bad decisions, but we need to let these kids play through the pain, and Wittman seems to have a tight leash on Foye. From his POV i can kinda understand, McHale was talking 40+ wins this offseason so he is just trying to save his own neck, but he is hurting this team right now.

Ha..I agree.
I wonder what his situation is. Something is clearly bothering him. Regardless of if you think he is a pg or not, his shooting is so horrible right now.

Ugh. When you're looking forward to Telfair, things are ugly. Foye's thinking too much, not playing instinctively at all. I agree with 4ho and Vega - Wittman is handling the young talent on this team in a way that is really, really questionable right now.

Yeah, he's not right. And it's definitely beyond just the whole PG thing. I actually think he's running the team relatively well. If he were shooting straight, he'd be having a pretty good year I think. I don't know what the deal is. He need to snap the heck out of it though.
