Another Step towards 2010.

Post#1 » by Rockice_8 » Tue Nov 4, 2008 4:43 pm

It appears that LA Clip's are trying to make run at this thing this year and with VC still on our team we might not be as bad as previously expected. Heres my idea to help both teams. We could throw in a 2nd rounder too.

LAC gets:
VC
SWAT
Jarvis
2nd round pick

Nets get:
Mobley
Tim Thomas
Al Thorton

Nets perspective: Mobley and Thomas expire before 2010 and Al Thorton is a nice young player with upside. We get a better draft pick (DeRozen)

Clip perspective: They get VC and Jarvis to fill the gap left by Thomas and also a young player with upside in SWAT. Make their run at the playoffs.

Nets:
Harris/Dooling
Mobley/CDR
Thorton/Simmons/Najara
Yi/Anderson/Thomas/Swift
Boone/Lopez

Clip:
B. Davis/Hart
R.Davis/Gordon
VC/Hayes
Kamen/SWAT/Skinner
Camby/Davis/Jordan

Helps both teams but can't be done until Dec. 15th because we just signed Hayes.

The only proble I have with this is that Thornton can't play the 2, and even though people can make dumb arguments about it, neither can Lebron if we landed up in 2010. I love Thornton, but there isn't a SG available in 2010 that we could realistically land (if you think we have a small chance to land Lebron, we have an even smaller chance to land D-Wade). Even though he's undersized and need to develop his NBA game a decent amount, Nets would probably demand Eric Gordon instead.

Even with all that said, I'm starting to think if we ever trade Vince, it's gonna be for a salary dump for this offseason with a guy who can play the 2. What I've been pondering is Vince/filler (cash to buy Ager out if need be) up to Portland for Raef/young SG. I think Roy and Vince would play great together on the wings. I think Nets will have to figure out where CDR sits in their plans first. Can he develop into a reliable starting 2 or 3 or at least a compitant bench player.

I think the season needs to be about 3 months in before we really know what Thorn/Kiki/Frank plan on doing with our young guys, Vince and our future picks (cause we potentially have 5 over the next 3 years).

Thanks for the input. Joe Johnson is also available, and we could also land the SG in the draft. Without Brooklyn LBJ may just be a fantasy. I just think that we should get the most out of Vince that we can.

Clipper have no need to trade for VC or to trade thorton.

That team is a mess, they give Davis that HUGE deal and they're aren't even a .500% team. They have a bunch of veterans who have never won anything(Mobley, R davis, T thomas) stealing minutes from the younger guys. I don't know what there plans are but I am SO glad i'm not a clippers fan right now..

No for NJN, and I imagine LAC says no as well. IMO, Carter alone is worth more than '10 expirings and a former late lotto pick.

Yuck.

I do not like Thorton, he is a ball hog.

If we were to trade VC, I would accept Eric Gordon, Mobley, Hart and a 1st rounder.

Eww, I'm NOT interested in a Harris-Gordon backcourt. Truthfully, Gordon can be even more of a ballhog than Thornton, and I'd prefer not to have either of them in NJ.

This is very true.

If we were absolutley trading VC I would accept this trade, not love it.
