Most underrated NHL'er

Post#1 » by Griff83 » Sun Nov 16, 2008 1:07 am

Ryan Clowe.

Hes simply a beast and one of the best young power forwards in the game. Hes a long shot but is he continues to develop he should get some consideration for 2010.

Ales Hemsky is a really good young guy who gets very little attention. He is my initial thought

Josh Gorges

He pays the price to make the play night in and night out, and he's one of our most consistent D-Men.

He also went to high school with my cousin in Kelowna, and dated her for a while. Lol

Clowe and Sharp are probably the best listed so far. . .
Boyes doesnt get the attention he should.

On that, underrated or doesnt get the attention/respect they deserve. . .

Jarome Iginla.

Dude is everything you could ever ask for in a hockey player, and a captain. . yet he is only talked about in the night game of a CBC double header.

That'd be my homer choice. Ryan Clowe is another.

What about Marc Savard?

I was going to say savard, but I would feel like a homer. Then the guy on Versus called him one of the most underrated players in the NHL

I was thinking about him. . .but there is a reason he is underated. . his underachieving defense. Dude can play and create, there is no question, but hes just not a good all around player. . thus the lack of attention/hype

^ 4 points (goal, 3 assists) in a 7-4 win. I could care less if he plays a lick of defense, as long as he puts up those numbers! ;)

Savard has always been good. Played well in Atlanta with Heatley/Hossa and Ilya. I thought he was a product of a good team i.e. John LeClair (Lindros days) then he signed with Boston and continued to have the same level of success.

You are a homer dude, get over it. Surprised you didn't say Lucic, though Savard is one of the most underrated players in the NHL.

Hemsky is my vote. Followed closely by Patrice Brisebois because I'm such a homer.

Because he is a rookie with 8 goals, 11 assists, for 19 points in 18 games. He's on pace for an 86 point rookie season and no one mentions him as a future superstar. He put up 116 points (44 goals) in 56 games for Drummondville in the Q and was a steal at the 6th overall pick in 2006 by Columbus.

He is already better as a rookie than some players mentioned in this thread (Ryan Clowe) and he is definately underrated. By next season, everyone will know his name. All people could talk about this season was Stephen Stamkos.

What does playing a full season have to do anything, how is he Brassard NOT underrated this season?

So far, he is an underrated rookie. No one ever mentioned him for ROY. He's not an underrated player. Let's see what he is like in 3-4 years. He hasn't proved anything yet.

Ryan Clowe is not underrated. He hasn't done anything in the NHL to warrant that label.

Iginla, maybe. He did win the Hart trophy so people do notice how good he is.

Savard would be a really good choice. One of the best passers in the game and no one talks about him.
