After 20 games, C's record needs to be ....

Post#1 » by Al-Haqq » Mon Nov 17, 2008 8:28 am

I'm curious as to what you guys will be content with after 20 games to start the season. They obviously started very quickly last season after 20-games. 18 W 2 L in 07/08.

17-3 is where I expect them to be. 16-4 I can accept but that's as low as they can go in my eyes before I become dissatisfied. 18-2 will be nice.

Who cares? It's more important what their record is after 82 games. And even more important what their record is after four playoff rounds (hopefully).

I want us to play better basketball. I want to see our bench step up, Rondo to actually play like a starting PG and just improve our overall game. Don`t really care about the record if we play well the wins will come.

I'd be happy with 16-4. That's a .800 winning percentage, certainly good enough to be the top seed in the playoffs. I want us to be at the top of the standings all year and finish with the best record in the league because we saw how important home-court was in the playoffs. We'll need home court to beat Lebron in the playoffs.

you guys are paying WAAAAAYY too much attention to the early regular season record. it's a marathon, not a sprint.

+1

I don't mind losses where the team plays well. Nobody wins every game, and sometimes you play a team that just plays better on a given night. Sometimes you have easy or tough schedules, and you win and lose more than average in that stretch. Of course I want the C's to have a great record, but looking bad while winning doesn't give me a lot of satisfaction given this is a team which needs to be competing for championships while the Big 3 have wheels left.

I'm missing a lot of trends I hoped I would see. Rondo and Perk involved more in the offense. Rondo taking jumpers. Rondo and Perk hitting FT's at a better rate. Rondo seems wildly inconsistent, it's almost like he's decided to fill a stat sheet, but every game it's a different (single) stat he wants to focus on. The bench out playing the opposition, and bench players being consistent on contribution. Some development of young guys because we put away games we should win early (and Walker, Pruitt, POB getting end of game time).

The current record is good, but surprisingly I don't feel too positive about it.

The most important issue is how they're playing at the end of the season. I don't think they need home court this time, so the biggest issue is definitely how they're playing by the end of the season. They may never go 16-1 but I could see them playing like the Lakers did in their second dynasty year. Not a great regular season, but they get hot at the end of the year and it continues through the playoffs.

within the next 9 games 3 of them look interesting over the others.

vs Det
@ Tor
vs Orl

I like our chances in all 3 games but we need to start playing better ball if we do 18-2 is not out of question.
