George Karl and his classless public insults towards AI

STFU and have some class - maybe even try doing your job?

I am no AI homer - I actually don't like his game at all TBH - but GK publicly disparaging him is absolutely disgraceful and he needs to shut his mouth.

Link please?

And Karl did the same thing to JR last year when he had his 40 point game. Also if memory serves, blamed the Spurs series on JR. The man doesn't have any class.

They're running it on the bottom line on ESPN and I believe there is an article in the Denver Post.

Karl basically takes shots at AI saying it was frustrating coaching him with his wasted positions and shoot-first mentality and that he saw things he could do, but couldn't make changes because they didn't have the playmaker to do it. Basically throwing him under the bus two weeks after calling him a model citizen and a pleasure. The man is a douche.

And some might argue that he's just propping up his new player in Billups, which I'm sure was part of the question that brought on Karl's answer, but there is a way of handling things and bashing a guy that busted his ass for you when he's out the door isn't one of them.

Actually, I've now seen it. Karl is just a freaking piece of crap. Stan needs to fire him now. If I was a player, I wouldn't be listening to him anymore. All respect for him would be gone. Don't think I'd have any to begin with, actually.. but still. He needs to go. This kind of BS will loss the team.
And some might argue that he's just propping up his new player in Billups

Those people would be completely wrong. Karl likes to blame his failures on everyone else besides himself. He didn't coach the team last year. He didn't even try to make AI/Melo work. He barely called any plays. Instead of being a man, he has decided it was AI's fault. Not his.

That's why this team has so much troubling "manning up." They have a little whiney boy running them.

Oh, I don't disagree with you. I just can already here that argument. Besides being classless, I think he exaggerated his point as well. Even the biggest Iverson fan would say(maybe not the biggest) that he overdribbles and takes some bad shots, but I think what Karl was doing there was trying to throw all the blame for an good offense not being the great one some people expected after the trade for AI. And while AI does deserve some criticism for that, so do other players and more so Karl himself.

This was pretty low to me. While I doubt he'll say it publicly, this probably pissed AI off quite a bit.

I don't think what he said was that bad, but it wasn't called for or necessary. I don't know what it is that Karl loves so much about calling players out through the media.

I don't think it was bad at all. Unnecessary? Sure, just move on.

Yeah, I don't think it was really what he said was bad, like I said, maybe exaggerated. It's more so there was no need to throw a guy that's out the door under the bus.

I found it really bad. More so because Karl really did nothing last year to try and fix or correct any of the problems he is now whining about. I remember times where he told AI to shoot more. Now everything is AI's fault for shooting too much?

The man is garbage. I'd love to hear when AI thinks or the comments and the Nuggets.

i read it. didn't piss me off much.

its just upsetting because its completely unnecessary. he's not getting paid for those comments, he has nothing to gain with those comments, he's not going to be a better coach because of those comments, the team won't be better because of those comments. if you feel that way about iverson, talk in-house about it with chapman, bearup, stan...whoever. you don't need to go to the nearest denver post reporter to say it.

Iverson actually said that Karl was a " good " coach in the interview when he was traded to Detroit.
Iverson is smart, and won't say anything bad about the coach or the Nuggets organization.
I just want to see who is Karl going to blame after another early playoff exit. The man is terrible in coaching and playoffs.

Actually Karl has done a pretty good coaching so far... it makes me forget about his past 4 seasons.

It's as if he went to Seattle then his wandering soul found him, "there you go my body..." and it went inside him and he became the Karl of old. The good coach...

But that was unnecessary he should have been more political about it. No need to mention AI's name, can always go indirectly by mentioning Billups strengths that AI doesn't possess.

Each season karl proves more and more how much of a scumbag he is. Have some damn class and move on. If he's so into pointing fingers why not point them at gay-mart or nana. Those two bums have huge contracts and produce zippo. Meanwhile Camby is traded for nothing. Denver needs a new coach ASAP

First of all, let me say that I don't agree with publicly speaking about AI and his game at this point......

However, it's not classless to answer a question posed by a reporter.....and reporter's are ALWAYS going to go right to that question after a trade of this magnitude, especially when we've gone 5-1 since.

To all you that are bashing Karl, let's not forget that the man speaks his mind....that's what he's ALWAYS done. I don't consider what was said bashing - probably ill timed, but it appears to me to be an open and honest dialogue about the way the team was playing.

I love the new look of the Nuggs, and I see them going far this year. Coach Karl, for his faults, is still a damn good coach. Get off his back.

You´re a patetic AI homer. Go waste your purpurine in the Pistons forum.

Oh, and thank God Camby isnt here anymore. Actually, a great move by the FO. Go ask to the Clippers...
I love players like Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady. Why? Just because I love basketball. Even if you don't have one in your team, you should love them, too. ;)

+1

AI was never a good fit for this team and its becoming more obvious as to why. He is not capable of playing the point guard no matter what anyone thinks. It just isn't his game and he seems to be incapable or just too stubborn to become a true point guard. Karl has clearly been frustrated with the situation of not having a point guard on the floor since Dre was traded and this was some of that frustration coming out. Who knows, maybe any excuses he could have are now out of the windows as we have a solid team that has the pieces needed for him to be successful.
