STICKY!! Rivalries
Hey, I'm gonna write an article on rivalries and I wanted some feedback.
I was hoping that you could give me a list of the team you would consider your rival, scale that rivalry 1-10, and your most hated player in the league (on any team).
Thanks.

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
Rivals = None. Haven't played the same team consistently in play-off games enough to develop a meaningful one. We are also not in the same conference as geographical rivals (bucks, chicago) to have the basis for one.
Hated player = None. Who cares about other players when our team is struggling.

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
We are in no position to rival anything right now. I guess the closest thing is all the dead NBA Legends who are rolling over in their graves watching us take part in the mockery our team calls professional basketball.

Well, usually in order for there to be a rivalry there needs to be good competition between two teams. I don't think we're in any position to compete in any way. I would like to say the blazers but meh.

I hate the Thunder. The Lakers too. They arent rivals. I just dont like them. I dont hate the Thunder cuz they are in our division, but for how the Sonics situation ended. Not the fans fault, but i still hate em.

Perhaps in the future, we'll be rivals with POR, but right now we aren't competitive enough to have a rival.

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
I pretty much agree with the others here. Portland is probably the closest team because they are in the same division, are young, and several Wolves fans here really dislike them. But I don't think it is a real rivalry and I don't think Portland fans feel that it is either. I wish we could realign the NBA so we could be in the same division with Milwaikee, Chicago, and Detroit so we could have some real geographical rivalries. Oh well.
There aren't really any players I hate. I don't like the me-first types. Melo would probably be up towards the top just because I think he is overrated, don't really hate him, though.
Sorry you aren't getting much for your article here.

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
Used to be the Nuggets, Lakers, and Spurs. That was back when we had KG and Flip.
We hope some day it will be the Lakers and Blazers, although I think the chance is slim with our current front office, coaching staff, and lack of direction.
Sadly the closest thing we have to a rival is probably the Okie Thunders right now. Them or the Minnesota Wild.
Carmelo is probably my least favorite player, and at one time was "hated" by Wolves fans when we used to be good. Now we suck so bad, it's tough to get pumped up to play any certain team or player. A win is a win, no matter who it's against. Not like the Vikings where a win against Green Bay can make or break a season.

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
The NBA not having us play our natural near rivals has destroyed any chance of us sustaining long rivals.

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
We don't have to be close to anyone to be their rival we just actually have to be good enough to piss a team off to be their rival. If I had to pick an NBA team right now I would have to say that OKC is the closest thing just because of the recent history between our teams. There were times when we were developing rivalries in the past.
Back when we had the KG, Ricky Davis, Blount team we seemed to have a little something going on with Boston. Those games were usually competitive and heated. For years the Wolves and Nuggets had high tension games. There were often verbal disputes and the two teams didn't really seem to like eachother.

The closest thing to a rival we have is the front office. That is who the fans feel they are playing against.

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
We don't have any rivalries right now. We had something of a regular season rivalry with the Spurs, Mavs and perhaps the Kings when we had KG. But we've never had much of a rivalry carry over into the playoffs. Shaq and TD were too dominant against us in the post season. We'd make the playoffs every year but the subsequent anticipation was like that of watching a 15 seed battle a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament. Llyod had a better chance of scoing with Mary in Dumb and Dumber

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
I was recently doing a bit of my own analysis on rivalries in the various pro sports leagues and noticed that the NBA is clearly lacking behind the NFL and MLB in that department. Name one significant rivalry beyond the Lakers-Celtics; they are just not out there. Even that rivalry has had it's share of hard times. The fact that stars carry the league may be one reason it is more difficult to sustain rivalries in the NBA. Whatever the reason(s) they just aren't there.

Re: STICKY!! Rivalries
The NBA has become too soft to let any rivalries happen. Nobody can bust someone over the head or try to make Michael Jordan bite his tongue off anymore.
