Predict Record at end of December!

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Wed Dec 10, 2008 7:59 am

The Jazz are currently 14-9, and still have 10 games left in December. So where do you think they will be come the new year?

12/11 Portland
12/13 Orlando
12/15 @ Boston
12/17 @ New Jersey
12/19 @ Detroit
12/20 @ Chicago
12/23 @ Milwaukee
12/26 Dallas
12/27 @ Houston
12/29 Philadelphia

That 5 game Christmas road trip is especially tough this year. Boston, New Jersey, and Detroit are all playoff locks. Detroit and Chicago go back to back and we all know how the Jazz are on back to back road games.

Personally, I see the Jazz record going like this.

12/11 Portland - W
12/13 Orlando - W
12/15 @ Boston - L
12/17 @ New Jersey - L (this one will be ugly)
12/19 @ Detroit - W
12/20 @ Chicago - L
12/23 @ Milwaukee - W
12/26 Dallas - W
12/27 @ Houston - W
12/29 Philadelphia - W

I would settle for 2-3 on the road trip even though they really do have a chance to win every game. I don't see them losing at home with Boozer back, and I think they start to pick it up on the road with wins at Milwaukee and at Houston which will be a tough game.

If the Jazz end the year with a record of 21-12 I would be very happy.

Where do you think they will end?

Boozer comes back, Jazz go back to crazy up high sick level of playing... I say Jazz close the year in a 11-0 winning streak. Likely, it will be 8-2, but I believe we should be totally capable of 10-0, and therefore 10-10 is my final answer.

7-3 rest of the way, with losses to Boston and Houston and your pick of crappy eastern conference team.

21-12 is not too shabby. it should put Utah in 2nd or 3rd place in the west, which should be the goal for the end of the regular season.

If the Jazz can have 20 wins by the new year considering the health problems this year that is an extremely good accomplishment. Considering they would have 13 losses when last year they already had 16, I'd be very content.

12/11 Portland - W (Boozer back should fire everyone up)
12/13 Orlando - L (Magic have been great on the road and their 3 point shooting will kill us)
12/15 @ Boston - L (Top 2 team in the league in their HC)
12/17 @ New Jersey - L (We don't have an answer for Harris and Carter)
12/19 @ Detroit - W (they've been struggling and we've done well against them in the past)
12/20 @ Chicago - W (No way in hell Deron lets us lose this one)
12/23 @ Milwaukee - W (we should beat them)
12/26 Dallas - W (back home after a long trip)
12/27 @ Houston - L (if Tmac is back. If he isn't, I like our chances)
12/29 Philadelphia - W (home against a team that is struggling)

6-4

I know everyone is excited, since we'll probably have a better record than the 16-16 we had last year, but does anyone believe we'll go on a 38-12 run after that? Our schedule gets tougher as the season passes and IMO we will likely finish with about 54 wins once again and a 4th or 5th seed.

12/11 Portland - W (Should be a good game)
12/13 Orlando - L (Jazz have no one to guard the 3 or Howard)
12/15 @ Boston - L (could be a win, as the Jazz might play up to the comp)
12/17 @ New Jersey - L (Harris will score 35pts, all from FT)
12/19 @ Detroit - L (We act as a slump buster for them)
12/20 @ Chicago - L (Chi beat us at home, on the road we are done)
12/23 @ Milwaukee - W (Finally a win)
12/26 Dallas - W
12/27 @ Houston - L (tough matchup)
12/29 Philadelphia - W (home against a team that is struggling)

4-6. We do cannot beat decent teams on the road, I don't expect that to change magically.

24-9 will be our record, I want to see the jazz kill Boston in their HC again. If we lose any game, it will be against crappy east teams. I like the Jazz's chances on getting W's against Portland, Boston, and Houston.

I honestly think 55 wins will get you second place in the West this year. Too many teams have had rough starts this year. NO, Phoenix, San Antonio, and Dallas all have played below expectation. And I expect Denver and Portland to cool off.

The tricky part is that there is only one or two teams in this list that won't make the playoffs this year. We could go 10-0, and could as easily go 2-8.

12/11 Portland - W by 3 or 4
12/13 Orlando - Our PG play is so much better than theirs, and it's home court. We could lose, but I don't think we will. W by 7
12/15 @ Boston - we won there relatively easily last year and we're back to full strength. In a mild surprise, Jazz W by 3
12/17 @ New Jersey - W the Jazz should double Harris the whole game with Brewer and AK. Never happen, but the Jazz should avenge an embarassing loss at home Jazz W by 6
12/19 @ Detroit - L We're not going to beat them forever, and they have McDyess back. 6-10 pt. loss
12/20 @ Chicago - L Back to back games, Drew Gooden goes for 15 and 10 (again)
12/23 @ Milwaukee - W by 5
12/26 Dallas - L if Howard is back, if not, Jazz W by 5
12/27 @ Houston - L whether McGrady is back or not. Back to back on the road.
12/29 Philadelphia - W (home against a team that is struggling)

6-4

I see us losing 3 of those games. Better record than last year, but much easier schedule.
