Re: all time pistons
Vinnie Johnson? Joe Dumars? Dave DeBusschere? Grant Hill? Ben Wallace?
I'm sorry, but Tayshaun doesn't get on this list just yet and Rip is questionable as well. I love Rip and everything he has done. A few more years climbing all the Piston leader boards and he should be recognized, but right now, you need Dumars on there.
Ben played alot of center for us, but he started at PF and he did more for the Pistons than Rasheed.
Grant Hill didn't win any titles and left Detroit, but he was the most productive SF we ever had and did alot with very little.
And it's Isiah Thomas.

No offense, but if Dumars doesn't even find a place on your depth chart its time to rethink your choices.

Re: all time pistons
Somebody said Mark Aguire over Adrian Dantley. Poor Dantley: he got traded just before the Pistons won a championship, and now he gets bumped again. I'm sentimental about his old moves, but man did he slow down the offense. Still, I don't like Aguire any better. Scratch both off the list.

^ There aren't many organizations that could match that starting 5.
With the playing styles of that 5 they would have messed extremely well.
Each one was the prototypical player at his position.

I like it with the exception of Hill. Grant, in his prime, was a better player than prince, but prince has:
a) won a championship with the Pistons
b) played here longer (7 years) than hill (6) and had much more success.
and tayshaun will probably stick around for quite a while longer. Prince was a better PISTON than Hill, even though Hill was the better player.

Re: all time pistons
Hill was a disappointment, botching layups at inopportune times (he could really clank them) and not being quite the lockdown defender I expected him to be. Maybe their draft positions determined expectations and thus perceptions of them as players. I think it's a tough call between Prince and Hill--maybe it will be easier if Prince is a Piston for another two or three years.

Re: all time pistons
Iverson is the second best player to ever wear the Pistons uniform. So these lists must only consider the respective careers while the players were Pistons? If that's the case Sheed is out of place on these lists.
Rip Hamilton is a stain on the Pistons franchise.

Is Prince the best player in the NBA? Is he better than MJ?
Grant Hill was the best player in the NBA and yes he outplayed MJ and he was better than him. I just think too many people have forgotten how good Hill was. 21ppg 9rpg 7apg or maybe 25ppg 6rpg 5apg. "Can Grant Hill save basketball?" Thats the title on the magazine cover with Grant Hill.

Re: all time pistons
Yah, he was good; he wasn't the best player in the league. His best scoring season (1999-2000), I don't know that he was a top five player: you'd have to compare him with Shaq, Malone, Duncan, Garnett, Bryant, Mourning, (any others?) all players I would have rather had on the Pistons. But we'll have to distinguish: best player in a Piston uniform; most successful and productive player in a Piston uniform; played with Pistons how many minimum years?
Hill did brick too many layups, and it killed me.

woah. tell me you didn't just write that Grant Hill was better than MJ.
Here's the stat for Tayshaun Prince: 82, 82, 82, 82, 82.

Re: all time pistons
The 5 best franchises are the 76ers Lakers, Celtics, Warriors and Jazz IMHO. The celtics and Lakers could put out 2 teams that could be top 15 teams.
Jazz: Stockton/Pistol/Dantley/Malone/Eaton
Warriors: Run TMC Barry and Wilt
76ers: Cheeks/Greer/DrJ/Charles/Wilt Moses as 6th man
