Bench +/-

Post#1 » by RickyDizzle » Thu Jan 29, 2009 2:37 pm

Obviously just one game against a crappy team, but:

P.Pierce F 27:29 -2
K.Garnett F 26:59 +4
K.Perkins C 24:00 -8
R.Allen G 32:20 +12
R.Rondo G 28:36 0
G.Davis 21:54 +27
E.House 20:18 +29
G.Pruitt 08:33 +1
T.Allen 23:22 +20
L.Powe 18:25 +18
P.O'Bryant 04:02 -3
B.Walker 04:02 -3

The highest four +/-'s are all from the bench. House, Baby, Tony, and Powe.

Like I said, we should get too excited since its the kings, plus we already knew House and Baby played awesome, but its still encouraging to see that our lead was increasing big time with the bench guys on the floor.

I don't pay a lot of attention to +/- stats. They can be very deceiving at times. Someone who was playing bad could have a positive +/- depending on who he is on the court with. Like Powe having a positive +/- in the Mavs game when he didn't play well, but he was in the game when Eddie and Ray were raining all those 3s.

You are totally right, but my point wasnt that those guys had the best games. Its more of a point about the bench as a unit than the individual performances.

My point is that the bench didnt give up a lead or just maintain the lead that the starters got. The bench players were all on the floor when the C's were extending their lead the most.

I am not drawing any long term conclusions based on this, just commenting that its good to see considering all of the concerns about our bench.

yeah, for all the dissing on the bench early in the season and fretting over the loss of posey, they're actually better overall than last year imo. of course consistency is always the big issue, but that is why those are bench players. it's great to see that our big 3 scores something like 30 points and we still can blow out a team.
