CAMERON SLC, UT: Tell me there's hope for the Jazz this year?

John Hollinger: Of course there is. But I saw just before this chat that AK is getting ankle surgery, so I'm not sure if he'll be back before April. I'll say this -- if I'm the Lakers, and Utah has Boozer and Kirilenko and all their other guys, they scare me more than other team in that conference.

Mabey John is just as dillusional as us?????

I love him for loving us, but I still don't see it. Sorry, but if I'm the Lakers, I'm begging to get the Jazz in the playoffs.

Its just common sense. People are so damn stupid and short sighted, its just their nature. If a team is doing badly right now, they will continue to do badly in the future, no matter what the reason for their struggles are. If a team is doing well, they will continue to do well, no matter how unlikely it is for it to continue. People simply go off of what they see in the here and now and they can't think outside of it.

Hollinger is a stathead, which has its limitations and issues. But the dude is smart enough to see the overwhelming evidence that suggests how good we are when healthy vs. how good we are when besieged by injuries.

This season may be over. We may be beyond hope. But to say that the Lakers "want" us because we are struggling with injuries worse than any other team in the NBA is just not very smart.

If Boozer comes back, with AK and no other key guys suffer significant injuries, and THEN we play poorly for 3 or 4 weeks straight. I can see having doubts at that point. But right now we have no idea how good this team will be when it has its full compliment of players. Booz is almost here. Another week or two and we'll start hearing about him ramping up to play. All the mystery and uncertainty should be removed now that the knee has been scoped. I think we'll see him in a uni before the AS break.

As long as no one else goes down between now and then, March should be a really good month.

Eh, seeing as how they already dominated us last year WITHOUT Bynum, and both Kobe and Fisher are natural Jazz killers, I'm sticking with what I said. You think having a healthy Boozer back is going to help our lo-post defensive woes?
Seeing as the Lakers have had time to gel as a team (and will have accrued more time come playoffs) and we have yet to see a single game with our 5 best guys on the court together, and probably wont till april, I really dont see us having a chance against LA.

I'm hoping to get into the 45-47 win range (would take some luck) and to get a 6th seed.

The Jazz still have 2 games against Phoenix, Dallas, and Portland. And currently the Jazz are 3.5 games away from the best of those teams in Portland.

If the Jazz win most of those games, they will get the tie breakers for the season on all of those teams, and will climb right back into contention for the 6th seed in the West.
