Rick Sund very forthcoming on radio today

He spoke glowingly of the team and the results this year. His major points:

- They are surprised by their success. They are in unchartered territory being in the 4th slot for 6 weeks now. He knows Detroit and Miami are on their tale.
- He talked about coming into Seattle and moving Gary Payton immediately, but also said that conversation was going on within the organization for a year prior to him acting on it. When he heard Ray Allen, he said he jumped on the opportunity.
- He said not to expect any big moves, and injuries have limited this team's time together. He praises Smoove, Marvin and Bibby, and gives Flip and Evans their due as big contributors this year.

It was so different than and Billy Knight interview, I really was shocked that he spent 30 min on the radio. He didn't take calls, and that would have made it even more interesting.

At this point, I'm fine with him taking a year to evaluate. It just makes too much sense.

I'd love a vet big to come off the bench, but they're hard to find...

He was on 790. I heard a little bit of the interview and thought it was some pretty interesting stuff.

I agree with TD, seems like a much better guy to be around than BK.

What I didn't add is that he was in total agreement to let Chills go, because it was a deal he couldn't match and was a great offer for Chills.
Now, he also said he would be interested to listenting to see if Chills wanted to come back....he was thinking about more depth off the bench, but to contradict that, he said the $$ that was going to go to Chills was able to extend our roster from 13-15 players due to the savings.
A good conversation, and he does admit that GMs make mistakes along the way. So far, his actions have not hurt this team.
Finally, he said he has no emotion over the Paul/Deron Williams/Marivin selection because he really likes the way Marvin has come on this year. The difference is taking more 3 pointers this year(10 in '07 versus 110 already this year) speaks voiumes about how much Marvin has grown as a player.
