He basically said that he share's part of the responsibility, but that there's only so much he can do because he's not the captain of the team and he cannot do the things that captain is "supposed" to be doing.

This guy is seriously a piece of work.

So apologies up front for misleading subject line, but Amare basically said "I'm not a captain, it's not my job to lead the team...that is the job of the captains so I can't take all the blame"

Still some interesting words, and I can't say I completely disagree with Stat

There's a reason he's not a captain.... actually, there's about 200 reasons why he's not a captain

Yes, there are things captains are "supposed" to be doing that maybe are not being done
There's also things that six-foot-eleven power forwards are supposed to be doing that aren't being done -- like rebounding and defending
When I breeze past, breathe fast, on point like Steve Nash

Well I think my reputation precedes me as the psycho who goes off on a tirade every time one of the Suns has locker room issues.

I can't wait for this ungrateful SOB to be off the team.

He's not team captain because someone worthy of being a team captain would NEVER say that about their team and teammates.

Mental midget. Go focus on your hip hop label, something about HUSTLE?!?!

Well when you tout yourself among the elite.......the LeBrons........the Kobes........ what do you expect? All he does is talk talk talk talk and the people are sick of it. He's supposed to be the future and he's still not even trusted by his teammates to be a team captain?

He's not the only reason we're at this point, but he sure plays a LARGE role in why.

In terms of "what's the MAIN problem with this team"(ANSWER: SARVER/KERR/PORTER) BRAINTRUST, yeah. But he's a large contributer to the issues in the lockerroom methinks.

He is being made a scapegoat -- rightly or wrongly. And I can't entirely blame him for starting to crack a little bit publiclly amid all these rumors.

Doesn't change the fact that this team is likely better off without him.

The thing that I find ridiculous is his "It's not my job to rally the troops."

If you want to be considered a Kobe/LeBron caliber player, you have to lead the team ON AND OFF the court; he's not doing the first, and he doesn't want to take responsibility for the second

This is getting downright embarrasing. The Suns have evolved into a full fledged joke team. Not just Amar'e but the whole team in general is just brutal. When D'Antoni left they should have blew up the team right there. Everyone on the team and even Bell and Diaw have nothing to do but whine, instead of play d they whine.

Nash, whine - Bell, whine - Amar'e, whine - Shaq ....whine

The team is going no where and it seems like the team is FUBAR'd, there is no way to fix the Suns now. The cancer that Kerr brang to the team has spread through the whole orginization and even through the fans now.

You don't just wait for people to give you the respect - team captain, superstar, whatever, you EARN it.

I also feel like Amare is being made a scapegoat by the FO putting him on the trade block as if he's the reason for the mess this team is at, but he sure hasn't try to be part of the solution himself either. I still hope we keep him until this off-season and see what better options we have. And hopefully Porter will be gone by the end of this season.

Steve Kerr - Full transcript available @ Suns.com

* Not going to promise anyone they are staying or going
* Amare understands that as do all our players
* Anyone can get traded - doesn't mean everyone is accessible but you don't know what's going to come up
* We are under performing and not playing up to our capabilities
* Lack of defensive improvement is the biggest disappointment
* We haven't been consistent
* Talked to Amare - he understands this is the nature of our business
* I've gotten a lot of calls
* I am not going to go into detail about what's gone wrong but we've not clicked yet and are still searching for that.

Amare Stoudemire

* Me being one of the leaders and an all star you can put it on me but I am not one of the Captains. You can't put too much blame on me. It's not my job to rally the troops
* Kerr said anyone can be traded: me, Steve or Shaq
* Right now I feel it's more me
* I have cherished the moments here (in Phoenix), I would love to stay here but you never know what happens
* It's more of a business move then anything else
* I know where ever I go we are going to be playoff contenders

Steve Nash

* I love playing here, I want to see it work out here
* I apologize to the fans - it's killing me and it's really hurting the fans
* I hear things second and third hand
* I don't care what people are saying out there (about Nash possbily being traded)
* I am only worried about us playing hard and playing together. I wouldn't care if we lost every game for the rest of the season if we played hard and with committment
* If we did that we would win our share of games
* Might as well back us into a corner and let us try and fight our way out of it
