Trade Information

Post#1 » by chriswebb86 » Wed Feb 11, 2009 10:31 pm

Not sure if there is a better thread to move this too. Listed below is some of the questions a guy from hoopsworld answerd in his chat about the Kings. Thought this might get some talking going.

[urhttp://www.hoopsworld.com/Chat.asp?CHAT_TOPICS_ID=149l][/url]
Bob in Cement, Oklahoma:
is john salmon a cancer in the locker room ?

Steve Kyler:
Absolutely not... John is a very nice guy, he's very quiet... he goes about his business.

---

Marc in Oberhausen, Germany:
Most of the current trade rumours surround big names like Stoudemire, Bosh, O'Neal, Marion, Carter. Do you have other possible trades in mind that are not on the public radar yet?

Steve Kyler:
Here are some guys I expect moved next week... John Salmons... Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden... Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox... the ending contract of Reaf LaFrentz... I think Brad Miller will be moved, I think Anthony Parker will be moved... beyond that I think there is a lot of talk.

---

Damian in Schroon Lake, NY:
Despite Dallas playing well since Jason Kidd took over most the play calling, the fact is Jet is out for some time and they need help at SG. What realistic options do the Mavericks have to acquire an impact SG?

Steve Kyler:
The Mavs have been linked to Beno Udrih for Jerry Stackhouse... to me thats about the only deal I see them really looking at.

---

Sam Presti in Oklahoma City, OK:
Should I trade Joe Smith for John Salmons? Or can I get more for Joe?

Steve Kyler:
Sam... John is a very good player, if you can get the deal done... do it, he's a solid pro and give Scotty B another smart player to work with.

---

James in Sacramento, CA:
how about this trade? B. Miller, J. Salmons, J. Thompson and 1st rd pick for S. Marion and M. Beasley

Steve Kyler:
Would be quite the steal for Petrie and Levien... not sold Miami makes that deal.

---

Steeebo in Toronto:
Who did SAC want in return from toronto for Salmons before BC nixed that deal?

Steve Kyler:
Sacramento is looking for ending contracts or guys on their rookie deal... as I heard it... the offer was John Salmons for Bargs or Anthony Parker...

---

Abe in Roseville, CA:
We're hearing about the offers for Amar'e, who's offering what to the Kings? Any developments? How likely is it the following players get moved: Brad Miller, John Salmons, Beno Udrih.

Steve Kyler:
The Kings literally have a dozen offers sitting on the table... they are expected to use the All-Star break to reach some sort of consensus on which deals they like... they have heard from almost every team in the league... If they have their way they will move John Salmons, Brad Miller, Mikki Moore and Beno... they have real offers on all four guys.

People that do these don't always do their homework like ESPN. JT outcored Beasley head to head in college. Petrie would never make that move. The others look legit. That one is hilarious.

Why is Beno still on the Kings roster then????

I'd take Matt Carroll for the guy STRAIGHT UP. He's cheaper and has a DISTINCT skill set.

Honestly I have no clue. I too would make that move. Maybe there are other offers sitting out there?

They would obviously prefer to trade him for an expiring like Stackhouse, but it means Salmons is gone soon after. I would not trade for Caroll we would just resign Douby to a cheaper contract for the BJax role. Speaking of resigning did you see Shelden's dunkathon yesterday, the game was on early so I missed. Did he dunk on Dirk?

I actually see no reason to reason Quincy. If we can get Stackhouse for Beno. I would be allover the deal. In the longrun it would save us a lot of money. If our only option was Caroll for Beno, I would still really consider making the move.

I am actually hoping that we resign Sheldon. I think he is a soild big off the bench. Especially since we have start to give him minutes.

"Sam Presti in Oklahoma City, OK:

Haha, what a f*cking tard. If Presti ever pondered this question in real life he should just wander off into the desert and die.

Good find.

Some pretty interesting stuff. It's nice to hear that there a lot of deals on the table, and that Peach is just fielding them til he finds the best one. Hopefully he'll find a couple that will work out the best. I would be surprised if we were able to deal Miller, Salmons, Mikki, AND Beno.

Get it done Peach!

I think Salmons was going to be tagged as the BJax role guy, big scorer PG off the bench but now we are trading him. Then I thought it may be Beno when we get draft a PG but we are trading him. That is why I would be ok resigning Douby for cheap. He knows the system already and is no worse than any other teams garbage if they could resign him for cheap he would. Remember that Salmons was a tiny role player in Philly because everything revolved around AI, now he is a stud because he got the opportunity. We revolve around Kmart, Garcia, and Douby just doesn't get the minutes to be a big contributor. Like Shelden I think he could be good if given the minutes.

nice find, but it means nothing because hoopsworld.com has no credibility.

IMO the Kings have a bunch of half attractive offers on the table, and that is why there is so much hesitation.

Honestly, I used to think the same thing, but lately, they've been gaining credibility amongst even MSM journalists.

I think it is funny that I am reading more about trade talks for the Kings then their actual games. Going from this chat, I would guess we will see moves made on Monday or Tuesday then.

Same here bro. I think its that we have seen enough of this team. I know every night that they are going to lose. The only reason I watch is to see what Thompson and Hawes do, which offers a glimmer of hope even if Hawes is struggling.

But still, if we do some of these trades I think it will give us all a reason to watch again.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

I've been really disappointed with Kevin's play of late. He seems to have gone into full out chucking/bail-me-out of this shot mode. It's getting annoying.

Smills i have to agree...im getting tired of him being nothing more than a one dimensional player. I honestly think we need to deal him and im not kidding. Hes nothing but a scorer.

Some more trade information from ESPN chat...

Joe (Seattle, WA): What are the rumors on the Cavs and Wally's fat expiring contract. Are they still standing pat? What deals are likely or being rumored?

John Hollinger: I think they're looking for a home run like L.A. got with Gasol a year ago, and if nothing like that comes open then they'll be content to play it out as is. By the way, is anyone else enjoying Wally's Please Don't Send Me to Sacramento tour lately? I've seen a contract push before, but this might be the first Don't Trade Me push that I can remember.

Adam (Sacramento): What players on the Kings are not on the trade block and why?

John Hollinger: Kevin Martin. That's the list. Everyone else can be had, and a lot of them can be had for not much if it involves expiring contracts. It would take something special to pry Thompson from them though.

Colin (Sacramento): Why no Kevin Martin on the trade block? He might be a pure scorer, but has no defense and is lacking leadership. How do you build a team around that?

John Hollinger: I think lack of leadership is a bit harsh -- what, you think he can magically turn Beno Udrih into John Stockton? He does need to improve his D, but he's also on a very friendly deal given his production.
