I was a bit concerned last year was a anomaly. Not so

Kid can play. Him and Alzner will be a nice little pairing for years to come

My biggest worry is he will fall into the Dion category.

Great first couple of years, even greater expectations, and then regardless of his output. . very difficult to reach expectations.
If Wash can hold on to Ovi, Semin, Backstrom AND Green, they will be in a good spot for years to come

So much Dion hate in the NHL. . . .

Green is a way. . .pardon me, WAY better scorer and skater than Dion. . . but if you think he is a better defender than Dion. . you have to watch a few more Flames games. His point production has dropped, no doubt, but he is leading the 3rd place Flames in minutes. He is a reliable player on any team.

I dont want to take anything away from Green, as i said, there are qualities he may be the strongest in the league at. . . but def not defending

People mislabel Green as a bad defender only because of the reputation of offensive defensiveman. But Green is very unique. He's not a great defender but he's good in his own end. He's +24 on a team that has Jose Theodore between the pipes.

His amazing offensive ability more than makes up for whatever minor skills he is lacking in his own end. The crazy thing is that this is only his second year playing as a heavy minute guy and he is only 23 years old.

Green is a great defenseman. Everytime I see him play, he makes a huge impact on the ice.

I really hope some how Dennis Wideman can transform into Green in a way. Both have very similar playing styles.

30 goals this year for him now in only 60 or some games. Ridiculous for a defenseman to do that in today's NHL.

I see him as a modern day Sergei Gonchar. He's a good offensive minded Defensemen not so great on the defensive side. if you paired him with a good stay at home d-man like a Jay Bouwmeester or Chara then he could be quite something in a few years

Green is solid on defense when he's set positionally. The only time he gets burnt is when he tries to go on a rush, fails and leaves the team in an odd man situation. He checks hard, throws big hits, clears the puck exceptionally well and is one of the best skaters in the league.

He's getting really underrated based on the notion that offensive defenseman are below average defenders. He is a good defender in his own end and his exceptional offense more than make up for his weaknesses.

He deserves the Norris this year. He would have flirted with 40 goals had Pronger not annihilated him.

Gonchar is very underrated as a defensive d-man. Brooks Orpik has finally lived up to his potential because of Gonchar. Once Orpik was manned with Gonchar, that's when Orpik came into his own. Gonchar is the best underrated defenseman in the league. He hardly gets any recognition and he is the backbone of the Pens.
