Jiri Tlusty is ON FIRE

Post#1 » by juucer » Thu Feb 19, 2009 4:20 am

This guy had 6 goals in his last 7 games. In the one game he didn't score, he recorded 4 assists.
Oh, and on top of that, in the game tonight he set a Marlies record with 5 goals.

Here's a sample of each of his games since the AHL All-Star game:

Jan 30 - 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 shots
Jan 31 - 1 goal, 0 assists, 4 shots
Feb 7 - 1 goal, 0 assists, 3 shots
Feb 8 - 0 goals, 4 assists, 1 shot
Feb 11 - 1 goal, 1 assist, 4 shots
Feb 14 - 1 goal, 2 assists, 6 shots
Feb 15 - 1 goal, 0 assists, 2 shots
Feb 18 - 5 goals, 0 assists, 5 shots

Never thought he would be a bust, but I had my doubts. Could he be turning a corner?

Guys like him just need to experience success again. i think going back and owning the Marlies or the rest of the year will do wonders for him- even better if they have a deep playoff run. Hopefully it will do the same for Pogge as he'll get the games in the post season this year (not sure why they went with Clemmeson last year).

I wish Stapleton would get a shot with the big club this year- that guy has earned it....more than Devereaux and anyone else. I think Bell should get a turn too.

Tlusty looks extremely comfortable (and dominant) with the Marlies. I don't want to see him in a Leaf uniform this year though. Let him stay down there, gain some confidence, and we'll see what he can do in the NHL next year, on a more established role.
