Cricket is like the equivalent of Baseball to you, but without all the entertainment value. Its practically one guy bowling to batsmen. Repeat for 9 hours.
- Two teams of 11 players. One takes a turn at batting, while the other bowls.
- A complete round of batting is known as an innings, this is completed when all batsmen are dismissed or a declaration is made. In shorter forms of the game and innings can also consist of a certain number of overs (20 or 50).
- An over is 6 balls long.
- Scoring is tracked in "runs". That is each time you run to the other end of the pitch, you score a run. Boundaries consist of 4 runs, or if you clear the fence (home run style) you get 6 runs.
- There are many modes of dismissal for batsmen. Leg Before Wicket (lbw), bowled, caught, run-out, hit wicket etc.
-When bowling if you run passed the bowling line and overstep you will be declared for a "no ball" and have to bowl it again. The same can be said if the ball bounces twice before reaching the batsman, or you bowl too high or wide for the batsman to reach it. (the latter is simply known as a wide)
- Test matches run for 5 days with two innings from both teams. There are also 50 over games and 20 over games.
- The team that accumulates the most runs wins the match.
7. You know it's a bad trade deadline to take the time to explain cricket.
