Former King tracking thread

Post#1 » by RIPskaterdude » Mon Feb 23, 2009 3:18 am

I thought it would be nice to see how the former Kings are doing, especially in their first games with their new teams.

2/22

Brad Miller - 10 rebs, 6 pts in 19 mins
John Salmons - 3 rebs, 3 assists, 12 pts in 25 mins

Bobby Brown - did not play tonight against LA
Shelden Williams - did not play tonight against LA

Mikki Moore - has not signed with a new team yet
Quincy Douby - will work out for the Knicks next week

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sheesh Brad, 10 rebs? When did you suddenly become 25 again?

Mikki may sign with the Celtics....

The Celtics are hoping to fill their need for a big man by winning the Mikki Moore sweepstakes.

Moore's agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed the team has offered the center a contract, and said several other teams have done the same thing, although he wouldn't divulge their names.

Moore is expected to make his decision today after clearing waivers and becoming an unrestricted free agent. "A lot of teams are very excited about him, so it's a tough decision for Mikki," said Bartelstein.

If Moore opts to go elsewhere, the Celtics would be interested in Oklahoma City center/forward Joe Smith if he is bought out of his contract. Smith is the more talented player, but there is a question whether he will be bought out or whether he even wants to be.

If I were him, I would go to the Lakers, since he will get more PT, and where they actually need him. And maybe play for a new contract

Mikki fits in perfectly with the celtics IMO. He's like a special ed form of Garnett.

He would actually get more time on the celtics. The lakers are much deeper than them, there is no way he would play in LA. Phil Jackson also has a history of not playing new players added to the team according to laker fans.

Man, I wish we could have traded for Nate Robinson. It would have been terrible to take on Jefferies contract but WOW, have you seen the numbers he has put up since the all-star break?

Feb 17th vs SAS: 32 pts, 10 rebs (for a PG!)
Feb 20th vs TOR: 26 pts, 5 rebs, 7 assists
Feb 22 vs TOR: 18 pts, 8 assists

And tonight...

41 pts, 8 rebs and only ONE TO (vs Pacers)!

He has really impressed me lately.

Yeah, but still, he is putting up very impressive numbers for coming off the bench, even if he is a chucker in Mike's system.

Salmons is playing pretty good, even though he's still coming off the bench. I'm glad people can see that he is still putting up good numbers EVEN though he's not on the worst team in the league anymore.

Brad has definately been "born again" with Chicago. He's accepted a role that is less scoring, but more defense/rebounding. In the last 5 games, in only 21 mpg, he's averaging 8 pts and 8 rebounds. Not bad.

That should have been his role all along! I don't know how many times I said that Miller wasn't able to handle the role we as fans expected of him.

Damn, Brad has been really good off the bench lately. Salmons has been starting for Deng and doing pretty good, as well.

Do you guys think ron artest feels stupid for not opting out last summer, with the economic downturn, and teams not wanting to spend as much?

If the cap really does go down like they say it is it could be chalked up as a colossal mistake. If Houston doesn't want him back he's screwed, or at least not getting more than the MLE.

I think he'll be fine. There probably wouldn't have been many takers last year, and I would guess that Houston almost definitely will want him back.
