question for Nash fans about his future

Post#1 » by jazzy_jeff » Thu Mar 12, 2009 8:18 pm

OK, so a lot of Suns fans are planning to trade Nash away this off-season, and I can't blame anyone for that. It's tough to argue that's likely the best move for the franchise at this point.

But for those of us who are diehard Nash fans, here's my question: where do you think he could end up? Where would we like to see him end up? And is it possible for him to be a starter on a title-contending team?

We're in a tough spot; since we don't have our pick next season, we still have to remain fairly competitive, and keeping Nash is the way to do that.

Exactly, I think if we make any big moves it will be Shaq or Jrich that are moved. Also, I think a lot of our bench will be changed out. I think Lou will stay, but not sure about Dudley, Tucker, Lopez, Dragic or even Barnes, As for Swift it will depend on what he does the rest of this season. Barbosa will stay I think, what he brings coming off the bench and with his contract he should stay.....

Maybe trade Nash to the Warriors for Jamal Crawford since he's either going to be traded or opt out (and another contract to make salaries work). Have Nash reunite with Don Nelson and the Suns can get a solid playmaker and younger player.

While we are at it, why don't we pick up A.I. and Al Harrington. Then we would have a team that would love to share the ball!

--- I don't know about that. We played well and won while he was out, which may be enough to persuade the bosses to move him while he's still got value. As well, he may not want to come back - it's a team option and if Kerr could say "After all Steve has meant to this team, we felt we had to honour his wishes and ...etc"
Just a gut feeling but I think he's gone. the biggest problem for the FO is media management and if (as above) they can get away clean, I think they would.

$14 mil off the books helps out a lot, and if they can move the resurgent Shaq ... that's a lot of dollars to shop with.

Plus, Kerr wants to put his imprint on the team (my supposition) and he can't do that with Nash running it. So - motive and opportunity ...

I know I've said all this before. Excuse the repetition.

and to finally get to the question in the thread - NY or Toronto. And i would bet NY given Mike D and nash and family living there in the off-season, his film production company being there and the opportunities for all of his interests that NY offers.

That's why they are fans and not management. If it was up to some of the fans, this team would be Stromile Swift, Marbury, Elton Brand, Tabuse, and a Washington Bullets vending machine.

Nash is here to stay unless Kerr plans on killing any chance this team has. I do not see why Nash needs to be traded. Heck if I were Sarver, just for the money alone, I would sign him to an extension. Dude puts fans in the seats and keeps the team going. People make it seem like he is Steve Smith at the end of his career where they had to attach robotic legs and control him via and R/C Car controller.

I'd give up Amare for a Washington Bullets vending machine. It would like nice in my games room (assuming I had one)

I think Blake/Bayless could look real nice for you guys (and save you about 8 million next year). Both would be better fits with Shaq, and Bayless has the whole young and local thing going for him too. Kids a tough SOB, but I'm not sure he's going to fit as the fourth option behind Roy, Aldridge, and Oden here.

Blake/Bayless
Barbosa/Barnes
JRich/Hill
Amare/Stro?
Shaq/Lopez

we'd be runnin with

Nash/Sergio
Roy/Fernandez
Webster/Batum
Aldridge/Outlaw
Oden/Pryzbilla

I agree with rsavaj. I think the suns will want to be realitivly competitive because of the lakc of pick. Unless you can get it back from OKC in a trade. I could see portland, but I think they would have to give up much more then blake and bayless due to money and talent. Toronto or NYK could be a destination. I think he will go there when he walks in 2010. I think nash will be here next year. suns will put J-rich, shaq and amare on the block.

^^ Only way Nash comes back next year is if he takes less than $13 million. Shaq on the block for sure if a trade reduces payroll. Kerr will keep Amare and JRich as he should.

As a Suns fan I would not want to see Nash traded. As a Nash fan, I would like for him to be traded to a contendor. Why? Nash deserves another chance at a title and it's not going to happen here in Phx. The team that I think has a chance to get him and compete for a title are the Bulls. They have all the ingrediantes that make Steve well, the two time MVP. Athletic players, some good defense guards who can cover his weakness defensively and Derrick Rose!

Can you imagine a lineup that consist of Nashty, Rose, Deng, Tyrus Thomas and Brad Miller! Then you have John Salmons, Tim Thomas and Jokiim Noah COMING off the Bench!!

Suns new lineup:
Kirk Hinrich
Jason Richardson
Grant Hill
Matt Barnes
Amare Stoudimre

Nash would be an expiring rental (and an expensive one at that)...let's be honest here.

Money wise it would probably work out, because we'll probably be around 7 or 8 million under the cap, and Bayless + Blake is about 6 million altogether. So let's be honest here, we're talking Sarver

Blake, Bayless, and 7 million is a pretty good return for him.

i think PHX fans are devided about trading Nash or not. Reading the posts, it's pretty much 50/50 among PHX fans. Can someone start an official poll so that we can go in there an cast our vote? I know MVF use to do polls almost every thread. Yo MVF can you do a poll? Just wanting to see how many fans really want Nash traded or to remain a Sun. thanks in advance.
