What I'd give for Lawson and Hansborough....

Post#1 » by DWCP2 » Sun Mar 22, 2009 2:42 am

One can dream a little.....

Pacers need a future at PG and a road-grader PF inside and I'd love to find a way to get both of these guys. Most mocks have them listed in the 20's depending on what draft you're looking at.

Grant it, we're looking at a trade or two to land both players, but I'm thinking it's possible

Lawson is said to be a Ford/Tinsley cross while Hansborough is a small sized PF, as much of this draft class is, but something in me says this guy is a Larry Bird kind of player, in terms of heart, hustle, and overall knowledge and feel for the game.

Thoughts???

Lawson is going to be a stud, plain and simple. The guy is going to be a monster. Hansbrough is going to be like Jeff Foster, gives it his all every game, but he will be a better scorer. I'd love to have both, more so Lawson though.

Biggest thing is where this team finishes as far as what pick. Lawson and Hansborough are both set to go anywhere from picks 18-28. and a big move down requires a team wanting to go up that high and give up what they have. Only two teams have multiple first rounders in Minnesota (currently listing having picks 3, 18, and 28) and Chicago (currently listing having picks 17 and 24.)

Lawson is Jacque Vaughn, take 2.

Hansborough will make some corporate league basketball team very happy.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I think that I pass on both, but I would give consideration to Lawson... But Hansborough I will not even look at...

Hansbrough reminds me of Nick Collison. A nice player, but nothing to write home about. Lawson could be Marcus Banks part 2.

I do dont think Lawson will be near a "monster" in the NBA. I honestly think his best case is Kyle Lowry. He hasnt improved all that much since last year when he was told not to declare because he would be a second round pick. This year he will go higher with the shallower draft class but not worth where we will be picking for sure.

Hansbourgh I would take on my team anyday of the week, I think we would have to say goodbye to home town hero Mcroberts though...

Well if the Pacers did grab Hansborough our big rotation would look something like this...

Starters -- Murphy and Hibbert
Reserves -- Foster, McRoberts, Hansborough, Lorbek/Barac?

You typically keep 5-6 bigs on a good roster anyway.

The only other PF of interest in this draft would be DaJuan Blair out of Pitt, but everything I see of him screams Ike Diogu, so I don't think he'd fit well.

He hasn't improved much since last year? Do you even follow him at all because that statement is ridiculous. He won player of the year in the ACC, has hands down been the top PG in the Nation - its not even close, and he has taken over many games down the stretch - see Duke game, and last nights game.

Ty Lawson reminds me of a combo of TJ Ford and Jarrett Jack with better ball handling. He is faster than Ford, but he stays in control, and hes as tough as Jack and can finish around the rim with contact. He has one of the best assist to TO ratio's in the nation, and possesses a killer instict that great players have.

Also, Ty Lawson was a projected lottery pick last year until he got caught drinking while underage. It seems like your just making stuff up to prove a point, because you clearly know nothing about him. That came out harsher than I actually meant it, I'm just saying, if you have watched him, you'd know.

As for Hansbrough, I understand everyones concers here. Another undersized PF. As most of ya'll know, I do not like undersized players, and I don't think Hansbrough will be special in the NBA. However, he has the work ethic of Reggie Miller, Jeff Foster, and so on. He will fight on every single possession and draws fouls better than any player I've ever seen. The guy will have an NBA career for sure. I doubt he will be a starter, but he will definitely be a valuable role player.

I love DeJuan Blair. I think he will be much, MUCH better than Diogu. I see the parallels--undersized power forward with an outrageous wingspan. The difference is that Bliar is a monster. He is physical and not afraid to bang it out in the post. His basketball IQ is higher than Diogu's (hard not to be) and I think he will solid.

Just looking at that Murphy, Hibbert, Foster, McRoberts, Hansbrough list, I had to laugh. That seems terribly ridiculous on paper. Not an athletic member of the bunch and white guys galore.
