Top 40 & Celtic NET PER's to 3/28

Post#1 » by Jammer » Sun Mar 29, 2009 3:23 am

It's been 10 games since I last posted this information.
NET PER is your PER minus the PER of the man you are guarding.
35% of Total Team Minutes are required for an NBA ranking,
only 200 players out of 435 qualify for a ranking.

It's obvious that strong contributors
like Kevin Garnett, Tony Allen and Leon Powe are missed.

NET PER ***** Player ***************** Total Minutes ********* NBA NET PER Rank
+30.4 ********* J. R. Giddens *************** 8 (insufficient minutes for meaningful conclusions)
+09.8 ********* Kevin Garnett ********** 1705 ************************** 8
+07.6 ********* Ray Allen **************** 2667 ************************* 17
+06.1 ********* Paul Pierce ************** 2792 ************************* 32
+05.3 ********* Rajon Rondo ************ 2407 ************************* 39 (Age 23)
+04.4 ********* Tony Allen **************** 762
+03.4 ********* Eddie House ************ 1304 ************************** 57 (talk about underpaid)
+03.2 ********* Leon Powe ************** 1183

-01.7 ********* Kendrick Perkins ******* 1988 ************************* 140
-04.9 ********* Gabe Pruitt ************** 341 (Age 23)
-06.6 ********* Glen Davis ************** 1366 ************************** 189 (Age 23)
-09.6 ********* Steph Marbury *********** 252
-09.9 ********* Bill Walker **************** 166 (Age 21)
-10.9 ********* Brian Scalabrine ********* 504
-15.0 ********* Mikki Moore ************* 289

Looking at the above results,
should the Celtics be using Steph
as a point guard the same way Rajon Rondo is utilized,
and not as a catch and shoot player, or off the ball???
Meaning, let Steph run the offense like Rajon Rondo runs it,
except Steph can finish plays with mid-range jumpers, or a pass.

The other side of the argument is simply that Steph has been too rusty so far
to make shots with any consistency, and that everything should all
work itself out over the next 3 weeks.

Good stuff man, thanks for putting in the time.

The only thing that is going to get Steph into the flow of our team is time, to me atleast.
He *just* needs to get his legs and bbiq(hate using that term) back up to nba speed then we'll get to see the real Steph finally, having supreme confidence in his jumper and enjoying having the ball in his hands.
A good thing is that while he's getting his basketball self back he will have been putting in time getting to know our system and getting acquainted with the guys personalities on the court. The timeframe(hopefully) for all this stuff coming together is right around the start of the playoffs, resulting in the C's just rolling through the competition.
