IMO, I understand the situation from the cop's POV initially but once he was explained the situation, he should have let Moats go. Now hearing that Zach Thomas' wife had an issue with him over an illegal UTurn makes me think this cop is power hungry and a total A Hole. Who knows how the wife was but he wrote her 5 tickets then supposedly. That is ridiculous. I realize police officers have a difficult job but this guy rubs me the wrong way and didn't have to make him sit there forever and take his sweet time writing a nothing ticket. Crap the nurses even came out to explain the situation and that jerk still took his sweet time.

Re: OT: Ryan Moats thing
I was really bothered to read this last week. I understand that the bad ones are very few and far between, but I've met more than a couple that just enjoyed the power that comes from wearing a badge and having a gun. This guy seems to fall into that category.

Re: OT: Ryan Moats thing
when you think about what motivates a person to desire to become a cop two things come to mind. one reason would be you want to serve and protect and you actually care about human beings. the other reason would be you want to intimidate people and control them, because you are a weak or frightened individual. its really rare to find a person who cares about human beings so deeply that they want to dedicate their lives to protecting them so the law enforcement profession becomes a magnet for a-holes who need a job cant function in any other workplace because of poor social skills. its a shame.

What gets me is the comments I've read around the net about how the cop was just doing his job. The Moats situation was complete overkill on the officers part, and it sounds like he acted similarly in the Thomas case by taking her into custody for some traffic violations.

I saw the video and it infuriated me. I would like to see what all of the self-righteous people who said the cop was "Just doing his job" would do if put in the same situation as Moats. I give Moats alot of respect for the way he handled the situation. Had it been me I peobably would have been a lot more confrontational than he was.
