Draft moving up

Post#1 » by saspurebball » Tue Mar 31, 2009 1:44 pm

Is there a chance we could move into the first round?
Here is what I would consider trade bait for bettering the spurs.
I think 3 2nd round picks 37,53,and 55
Udoka, Oberto and Bowen the rights to Robertas Javtokas and Tiago Splitter(Last resort I feel he can fit with us in time)
A short list of teams I feel we could trade with to better our draft Wolves,Kings, and Bucks
Bucks have no picks i would want but the have a Bowen sucesser Luc Mbah a Moute
We send Oberto and Bowen a 2nd round this yr and if need be next yrs 2nd rounder for Luc Mbah a Moute

The kings are setting at 25 and the wolves at 28 that could get us Jerome Jordan,Chase Budinger,
DaJuan Summers

Maybe just a pipe dream but there is alot of teams who need those vet. role models for there teams.

Right now I think our best shot at moving up is simply buying a pick. I think right now teams like the Hornets, Mavs and Magic would all be interested in selling their picks to avoid the tax/more tax. I'd really like to see us buy the Hornets pick and maybe pair that with a one or more of our seconds to move up a few spots and grab DeJuan Blair or Sam Young in that 17-20 range.

Yes like both players would love to land Earl Clark but so would half the nba. A few overseas guys we should at Dimitris Diamantidis 6'5"200lbs pg 48% 3ball 85% ft 5 boards 4 ast 1.5 st agame Sharrod Ford pf 6'8" 11ppg 10 rpg almost 2 bpg and the same in steals just to look at ford was with the spurs preseason and a monster at clemson.

I would love to have Diamantidis on this team, he's an outstanding defender, great shooter and a match up nightmare, He would be perfect next to Mason Jr. off the bench.

And speaking of international players if Bostjan Nachbar decides to come back the NBA we should definitely take a look at him, I loved what he did in New Jersey. Another guy that I wouldn't mind taking a look at is Ramunas Siskauskas, he's already said he's interested in coming to the NBA and even though he's getting a little older(30) he would be a great addition. He's a very very smart player, lights out shooter, good defender, good passer and a good ball handler. He can play every perimeter position and would be a great role player off the bench.

I think that Minny has like 4 first rounders... they can't use all of them. They can prolly trade for one of their picks if they have their eye on someone. We could really use a small forward.

if the Spurs go international again, moving up doesn't make much sense. a late 1st round pick might end in another Splitter situation, so better use the 2nd rounders and wait who will be there.
(they could try to move up in the 2nd round though). maybe the Kings are willing to talk about their #31 pick for our 3 2nd rounders. this would make sense. the possible international Spurs targets (Llull, Casspi, Dasic) might all be picked on top of the 2nd round, because teams will hesitate to use a 1st rounder on them. #37 might be to late.

I'd be interested in trading for a later first to get Pitt SF Sam Young. He is possibly the most NBA ready player in the draft, and would be able to give us a much needed boost going forward next season. Check out his player file on my site: http://realcollegebasketball.com/syoung.html

I think he will go in the middle of the draft. I have a feeling after his workouts, he will his stock will go up.

I wouldn't expect much from the draft this year. We are not a very active team around this time of year.

At pick 28 the spurs could draft Tyler Hansbrough. Alot of mocks I see have him going late in the first round. He could be a less expensive option than resigning Gooden or going after someone like David Lee. Though I believe Gooden is obviously a much better player, and I love David Lee's game, adding someone young and promising like Hansbrough could be nice.

He would have to change his jersey number, nobody will ever be able to rock a spurs "50" jersey and do it justice. David coming out of retirement would be better than having any of the above mentioned players.... jk.

Don't mind Danny Green and NBAdraft.net has him falling very late. Could mould him into that long defensive 3 we have been salivating over since Sjax left the side
