A lot of trade ideas that are being floated around on our board have us trading for stackhouse and his unguaranteed contract. Why don't we instead sign sprewell to a contract for next season (8 million for 1 year with only 1 million guaranteed) (kind of like dallas did with van horn)
-We could then send sprewell in a sign and trade somewhere to somebody who wants to cut salary
Ex. To Milwaukee for Ridnour and either Alexander or their 1st
To New Orleans for Chandler
To New Orleans for AD, NO 09 1st, J. Wright
To Washington with Utah pick for James, Thomas, Wsh 1st rounder
To Chicago for Hinrich
To Chicago for J. James (80% covered by insurance), Chi 1st rounder or Noah?
Or another team Phoenix?, Orlando?, other teams?
We would still have Miller and still be enough to be below the luxury tax.

Pretty interesting idea, but as I understand it, it has to be a three-year deal, and the first year must be fully guaranteed.

Yup

However, its good to see the Sprewell deal on the books. We can still make an expiring whatever size we want (actually one guaranteed year, and the other two team options), and he's not about to say "no."

He wouldn't say no, but Evil Dr. Stern made it pretty clear that those deals are frowned upon after the McKie and Van Horn deals. I think they want a good faith effort that the guy is going to play.
