Toronto Blue Jays starter Scott Richmond received some well-deserved recognition on Tuesday by being named the American League Rookie of the Month for April.

The 29-year-old North Vancouver, B.C. native went 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA in four starts, leading all AL rookies in wins and strikeouts with 20 in 23 1/3 innings pitched.

Well deserved, he has pitched very well.

I can't believe this guy was pitching in Edmonton just two years ago. He must be loving every minute of this now.

He was horrible in spring training. I'm actually surprised he's done this well so far.

Canada sure coulda used him in the Olympics.

How many innings did he even pitch in ST? He was with Canada for like half of it, wasn't he?

Oh, and Canada sure could have used him in the WBC. Whitt made the colossal error of not using his best pitcher in the first two games of a double elimination tournament.

Every time I've seen him pitch, I've been impressed with his control. That's probably his best attribute. His fastball isn't bad either.

I really questioned the decision to have him in the rotation to start the season, but he's exceeded all of my expectations.
