Props to Starbury!

Post#1 » by LarryBrdismyDad » Wed May 13, 2009 4:24 am

He kept us in the game tonight. What a 4th quarter 12 pts on 5-5 shooting 1-1 FT line. This guy def wasn't the problem in NY it was Isiah Thomas! This is what I expected when we signed Marbury. I say resign him and let him play a full yr next yr. This kid is getting better every game. He had an 8 point game earlier this series too. He is perfect as a secondary scorer with the 2nd unit with Allen/Pierce as first option. There arent too many better backup pgs in the league. I know he has really struggled with his shot but let him work through the rust and reap the rewards next yr!

Thoughts?

Agreed. It seems right now there are only a couple of specific shots he's comfortable with, and he's willing to dribble rather far across the court to get them. So be it; he seems able to get to his spots pretty easily.

he plays better when he relies on instinct as opposed to his fear. when he's under duress, his baller instincts come out and he comes through.

Hell yeah!

Steph played a great game for us and single handedly kept us in the game while our starters were winning.

He gets the victory cigar tonight from me.

Good for Steph. And for us.

He definitely kept us in the game, but, I wouldn't say he won it for us. When he was hot we were just trading baskets with the magic. There were no defensive stops whatsoever. It was still a 10 point game when he went out and Pierce and Perk came in - that's when the clamps were put down and we went on a 13-0 run.

I'm happy for Marbury, his been through a lot this season. Maybe this game will get his confidence back.

He just needs time to get his game together.....now a game or two from Moore would be nice.....that will come too.

Steph really stepped up when his team needed him. He allowed the starters to get their legs under them and he carried the load for alittle while. Hopefully this can build his confidence and we can get some punch off the bench with Marbury and House.

I've been saying it, he just needed to find his way...he hadn't play in a YEAR before we signed him. I hope this is the start of something beautiful!

He was a problem in New York and adding Isiah to the toxic mix only made things worse. But he is getting his head together lately and will try to rehab his image over the next three or four years -- but I doubt it will be enough to erase the past.

Like I've always said though, since I was in New York, even if you don't like Marbury on the court he's one of the few NBA players that cares about his community and always puts his money where his mouth is.

I would appreciate him coming back for half the MLE, getting a full training camp and just playing like a scoring guard from the bench like we need him to do.

^^^ Meh. Don't count on that. This is a one and done for him. I think he is too young to become a permanent backup at this point. It's a win win situation for him - as long as we extend our playoff run.

He gets to remove the stink from the NY media and Comcast regime with unselfish decent play and we get a decent PG on the cheap.. Marbury got scapegoated in much the same way Pierce would have been provided we didn't get KG and Ray Allen..

I never, ever, thought I'd like Stephon Marbury. While he still might be a dirtbag, he's been a great teammate and Celtic, so props to him for helping save the Celtics' bacon last night. Shoot the ball, dammit!
