I consider it. Not a Rafer fan though." (Lead Magic to Finals, Outside shooter, Playmaker , Sell's Tickets and Gear , Expiring)" I think you are being generous on most counts there. But Expiring is certainly one. and he can play some back up minutes for Westbrook I guess.

I am assuming this is with the thought to replace Gortat as the big?

As much as I would like to keep Gortat we can't go too deep into lux tax to pay him...

Makes Sense. Im hoping we make a good run at him. Collison is undersized for the "Gortat role" on the Magic though.

Well really i think nick will fit better. Nick is more skilled than Gortat. Some one is sadly going to over pay for Gortat. He can hit the 15 footer plus get rebounds and defend the post(Nick)

That's true, but his size and lack of athleticism dont make for a backup centre. He really isn't a threat to block a shot either.

Yeah Im starting to think that Gortat, like Arizia will get paid because of the guys he is currently playing with, making him look better.

However watching him play closely (Gortat), I notice that he screens and rolls beautifully (rarely get hit with the passs though.) Moves his feet well on D (but gets no Ref respect) and is athletic as hell - is one of the fastest big men up and down the floor. His shot is terrible though LOL

Ariza (for interest sake) I tihnk Gambles too much on defense for steals and only shoots well because his shots are so dam wide open, due to the fact that Kobe and Gasol (and ODom) draw allthe defensive attension

I disagree because I think that the way that players like a Gortat and Ariza get overpaid is when whatever team signs them expects them to do something that is outside of their area of effectiveness. If you expect for Gortat to be your starter and give you 15ppg and 10rpg every night, you'll probably be disappointed. If you pay Ariza like he's going to score twenty points a night, your going to wish you didn't. If you realize that Gortat is a really nice backup center and Ariza is like a more athletic Bruce Bowen, then you won't overpay and you won't be disappointed. It's all about expectation.

^It's easy to say that but you know someone is going to overpay for both. I agree completely on Ariza though. I dont think he is that good if you take away the guys he plays with. They will get overpaid though. If I had to pick one for us to overpay it would be Gortat because he is a decent big. I wonder if Magic arent playing him in the Finals right now so that his value doesnt rise.
