Perhaps an option for us?

Post#1 » by Ed Pinkney » Sat Jun 20, 2009 12:10 am

With all these rumours of big name players being traded this off season (Shaq, Amare, Bosh etc) perhaps an option for us should be getting involved as a third team with some of our expiring bench players to take back a decent role player from one of the teams?

Thoughts?

I think Ainge knows that you need 3 Superstars to win a ring.....he wont let Ray Allen's deal expire....He'll replace him with Bosh or Amare....NOT role players----and he DEFINITELY doesn't want other teams get these type of players, if HE can---and the ONLY way he can, is with Ray's contract.

I liked the rumor at the trade deadline last year that the Celtics might have had an option to acquire Nocioni. I think his contract is setup to actually decline in future years? I think he'd be a great option for the bench.

I don't think the Celts could get him unless giving up a decent amount, but if they're going to jump into a 3 team trade and ship out Ray or other big contracts, I'd consider getting back Nocioni as one piece of a deal...

I don't mean moving Ray in such a deal, I mean sending Tony Allen or Eddie House etc. I mean a bench player or two with an expiring contract as salary fodder to make the right deal for two other teams work and we get a Nocioni type player.

i agree, i think this is what we should try. dump some of our contracts and bench guys and try to get back a solid rotation player, probably a bench guy but better than any bench player we have.

I think one of two things is going on. Either Ainge and co have their eye on someone who they feel is just too good and too good a fit not to go all out (ie ray and rondo) to get, as I think Ainge felt about KG for years OR we they are imply going to make the best deal they can. The later will depend on what deals are out there so it is really hard to predict. I pretty much only watch Celtics games so I don't know who I'd want out of Bosh, Wade and Amare
