Endy Chavez

All reports are saying he is gone for the rest of the season with ligament damage which really sucks.

So who fills in the void, Junior and Balentien?

If you cant sign Acklley and get him out there then i'd bring up Saunders, leave Junior as the DH. Really dumb play by Betancourt for his part in that play on Endy.

Why is that a dumb play for Betancourt? I hate Betancourt but I can't blame him for hauling ass and making a good catch when he wasn't called off by the LF.

Chavez has a torn ACL and MCL...done for the year, and possibly part of next year too. That's awful news...I hope he can fully recover because that could be a career changing injury for him.

It's a shocking injury, I just hope he can get back to or as close to as what he was before the injury.

Balentien has started well with a solo homer tonight. Another option is Michael Saunders.

Apparently there's a concern that he won't be ready for the start of next year, meaning it is going to be pretty much impossible for him to sign as an UFA in the offseason. And for a guy who relies on his ability to cover the field quickly, destroying a leg could be devastating. If he loses even a little bit of speed and turns into an average defensive OF then there's no reason to even have him on a roster.

Which sucks. I don't see Endy as a full time OF but he's a pretty good player and seems like a decent guy.

I have my doubts if he will be as fast as he was once he comes back, he could be out for up to a year.

I think on popups you can get out there and call off the outfielder but you dont go hauling ass into someone when he is quite capable of catching the ball. Put it in this perspective, if Yuni had wiped out Griffey on that play and ended his season they would be buying him a one way ticket out of town. Last night he drifted into Beltre's space and Adrian gave him a look that pretty much said it all.

Betancourt for all his supposed talent has the baseball IQ of a little leaguer. They've tried to trade him, sat him down and my guess is he'll be gone by the end of July.
