Green Room Members.....

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Mon Jun 22, 2009 11:42 am

Typically there are 15 players invited to attend, but the NBA reserves the right to bring in less or more at their judgment. Right now we know about 13 players that have confirmed. Here are the invites, from what we’ve been able to gather: 1. Blake Griffin 2. James Harden 3. Hasheem Thabeet 4. Ricky Rubio 5. Jordan Hill 6. Tyreke Evans 7. Stephen Curry 8. Jonny Flynn 9. Demar DeRozan 10. Jrue Holiday 11. Gerald Henderson 12. Brandon Jennings 13. Tyler Hansbrough 14. B.J. Mullens (potentially declining) 15. James Johnson (declining invite) 16. Eric Maynor (potentially declining) DraftExpress.com

The biggest snubs would likely be considered Terrence Williams, Austin Daye, Earl Clark and DeJuan Blair. There is apparently still a chance that one or more of them could make it to the Green Room when it’s all said and done, as at least one snubbed agent thinks that “discussions are on-going.” We were unable to confirm whether Ty Lawson was invited or not. I think Holiday will slip past the lottery, IMO. Could wait till the late teens, which would suck if your in the "Green Room".

Hansbrough in the green room? He's not even gonna be taken in the teens in a weak draft.

I think the best pro that will come out of this draft class will be Terrence Williams it's a shame he won't be in the green room however I think we all are going to love the way Williams plays because I think he is the apple of Danny Ainge eye right now and Ainge will try to move up to get him. Don't by into Danny Ainge down playing this draft and that there isn't a trade out there to make.

I don't know where he'll end up, but I think Hansbrough will end up having a Carlos Boozer type career. He's a winner. Believe me I hate UNC, and Hansbrough when he was there, but I also hated Duke, and Boozer when he was there.

Yeah, except for the fact that TH has no where near the skill and build that Boozer has. TH is a 10-15 mpg player off a first round exit team.

Boozer and Hansbrough are very similar players. Boozer is a better finisher with his left hand around the rim. Hansbrough is a much tougher player. You're dead wrong!

If there was any justice in the world Hansbrough would a Boozer type career. But unfortunately much of Hansbrough's success comes from hard work and determination as opposed to overwhelming physical talent. Boozer slid to the second round based on complacency and being out of shape, the lure of money allowed him to overcome that I just don't know that Tyler can work his way into much more than a serviceable PF.

I would love to be wrong about Hansbrough but it would be me and just about every scout who has seen him play. He was an overpowering type player at the NCAA level but at 6'8" 235lbs your talking about combo forward size and the game of a guy who is 6'11". Obviously he may be able to extend his range and show a lot of skills that just weren't necessary at the NCAA level but without that you are looking at a back up PF.

I am rooting for him though.

Just for sh*ts and giggles they should invite some sesame street characters. Picture cookie monster sitting beside Blake Griffin.

Big Baby Davis with better athletic ability. Hansbrough could average 18 / 10 this up coming year if he ends up on the right squad.

Honestly what if Big Baby is gonna be involved in a S & T deal and we draft Hansbrough somehow. I'd love that. We don't need both of them though.

Yeah I don't see any similarities in Big Baby and Hansbrough sans being undersized PF's. Big Baby has always been a big man with a small man's game, frequently cracked for being a better ball handler, passer, jump shooter than low post scorer and rebounder. While that likely limits his ability to be a special or dominant player it may well have created scenario under which he can be effective.

Hansbrough is much more of a slightly taller, less athletic Leon Powe or Carl Landry. Obviously if you play him 35 mpg and give him 15 shots per he could score 18 points a game but whether or not that is a winning idea is another thing entirely. The issues with him will be whether or not he can score as effectively against bigger men and defend them.

One reaon I'm somewhat optimistic about Hansborough's career is that I think he has the fundamental to become a reliable 15 foot jumpshooter, sort of a more avtive Udonis Haslem

Well done sir, well done!

In college Boozer looked like an angry 35 year old mexican that hosts cock fights in his garage, Tyler Hansbrough just doesn't have that quality about him... maybe he harvests their eggs, but there will be no sharp talons in Tyler's garage, you can count on that.

Please remember this thread. You guys are gonna be eating crow. You guys got something against really good white players or something along those lines. Not every white guy ends up like Adam Morrison you know. The NBA is do to have a good white guy take the court!

Hansbrough lacks the athleticism to even come close to what he does in the NCAAs. If he doesn't develop range and more versatility, while continuing to work on his lateral quickness and overall athleticism, he is nothing more than a glorified Mark Madsen.

I think he is overrated because he is on television a bunch, honestly. I wouldn't entertain thoughts of grabbing him until the mid-to-end of the 2nd RD if I was a team. Sure, he might be able to translate his performance up a level but I wouldn't bank on that.

I think he will get absolutely abused defensively, as well. Buy extremely low.

And just to add, other than his scoring around the rim (which just wasn't that special), Hansbrough was aided by a very good (for NCAA) offensive rebounding rate. The rest of the Ty-Beast is a myth.

High Usage Player - Only a Decent Finisher (against less than NBA interior defenders) - Sub-Par Defensive Rebounder for a PF (even by NCAA Standards) - Zero Defensive Activity - Sub-Par Wingspan for PF (especially at the NBA) - Poor Agility = Mark Madsen

BBD is a decent athlete - he is just badly out of shape. Tyler OTOH has BWS written all over him. Two of the better white bigs in the NBA are freak athletes - David Lee and the Birdman. I rememeber watching David Lee WIN a slam dunk contest.

So sure not all athletes end up like Adam Morrison. But most of the slow, short armed but hard working ones do. The NBA is a pretty harsh on guys with the wrong body type. There is no justice in the world. That's something sports writers try to inject into it. Truth is some guys are just born to play.. With a modest amount of work they outdo guys who spend far more practice time.

Pete
