MIN - LAC (Not shrink-endorsed)

Post#1 » by shrink » Mon Jun 22, 2009 3:51 pm

I was just curious where you guys fell on a trade like this:

LAC GETS: Mike Miller

MIN GETS: Chris Kaman + future 1st returned.

Here's the catch .. Kaman's contract. Miller gets $9,880,937 next year, but Kaman goes:

2009-10: $10,400,000
2010-11: $11,300,000
2011-12: $12,200,000

The deal also has a trade kicker, so if we guess 15%, its an additional $5.1 mil over three years.

Would you make this swap with Mike Miller?

Would you make this swap with other expirings Cardinal + Madsen?

Not a Kaman fan. Between the injuries and his likely poor fit with Jefferson, he's getting paid waaaay too much for waaaay too long.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Pass. I'd rather keep Kevin Love. I don't think Kaman is worth ruining our cap flexibility for the next few years.

No, but I'd want to see if we can just add a third team (which I think is unlikely).

Kaman sucks when considering his contract and his lack of ability to play with a good PF.

Pass.

They already turned down kaman/miller straight up, I doubt they'd add a pick return.
Kaman/Brand played together pretty well pre-injury.
A healthy Kaman is a borderline all-star, but he's not been healthy very often.
This may be something we revisit towards the trade deadline.
